Jameis Winston is expected to start the 2025 NFL season as one of Russell Wilson's backups on the New York Giants.
For some within the organization, that's rumored to be a situation that some might've been against.
According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, there are some within the Giants' franchise who "preferred Jameis Winston to Wilson, in terms of how they came off in their visits before both signed with the Giants."
Even beyond Winston, it was noted again that Wilson wasn't exactly the "apple of the Giants' eye" when they were searching for a passer in free agency.
"General manager Joe Schoen wanted to trade for Matthew Stafford, then preferred to sign Aaron Rodgers before moving onto the third choice, giving Wilson a one-year contract for $10.5 million, with incentives baked in that could double that money," Schwartz wrote.

It's clear that Wilson is going to start the season as QB1. His status in that position will be performance-based, and his leash is likely short, considering the circumstances in New York.

With the 25th overall pick, the Giants selected Dart to potentially take over as the franchise quarterback in the future, filling the void that the cutting of Daniel Jones left last season.
If the Giants can't get off to a hot start, it will only turn up the pressure on the coaching staff to consider pulling the plug on the veterans and begin experimenting with the rookie.

For the time being, Wilson has done a solid job of getting buy-in from the organization. Not only does the front office and the coaching staff seem satisfied with his spring sessions, but his receivers have issued consistent praise to the one-time Super Bowl champion.
As for Winston, he'll continue playing a backup role. After beginning his career as a starter with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Winston's move to the New Orleans Saints in 2020 was the start of his journey as a backup. Over the past five seasons, Winston has started just 17 games. Nearly half of those starts came last season with the Cleveland Browns.
Winston threw for 2,121 yards,13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He achieved a 2-5 record while starting for the Browns last season.

Rams' Davante Adams says LeBron James would have been one of the best wide receivers in NFL history

Could LeBron James have thrived in the NFL if he had chosen to take his talents to the gridiron instead of the hardwood? Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Davante Adams certainly thinks so. "He would have been one of the best receivers, tight ends of all time. No question," Adams said during a recent appearance on the "Dan Patrick Show." Adams cited James' speed as one of the reasons he would succeed in the NFL. "He can fly too. That's the thing. He's one of the fastest NBA players probably of all time," Adams said. "I've never seen somebody cover space on a basketball court. Maybe John Wall? Derrick Rose? Somebody like that, but he's up there with all of them." At six-foot-nine and 250 pounds, James certainly has the size to play tight end or wide receiver in the NFL, as he is bigger than some of the best to ever do it. James previously said his comparison on the football field would have been a combination of Randy Moss and Rob Gronkowski. "Probably like a mix between, you know, (Rob Gronkowski) or Randy Moss a little bit, but he's a lot smaller than me. He runs a lot faster, but he's a lot smaller than me," James said during an appearance on "New Heights" in March. The 21-time NBA All-Star compared his build to Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson, as James said they have "that same stature as far as build." James also brought up Tony Gonzalez, who played college basketball before eventually turning into a tight end and had an illustrious 17-year career in the NFL that ended in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. "Maybe Tony Gonzalez, with his size, and obviously he played basketball as well. I used to love his celebration when he used to dunk on the goal post too," James said. Gonzalez was six-foot-five and 243 pounds, while Johnson was listed as six-foot-five and 237 pounds during his playing career. The Lakers star said he only "seriously" considered joining the NFL in 2011, during the NBA lockout. "It was 2011 when we had the NBA lockout and, you know, I didn't know when we were going to make the deal with the owners and get our league back going. I actually thought about it a little bit back then. I was still young enough, you know, to get out there with y'all, but that's the only time I've actually seriously considered it," James said. Adams would certainly know what makes a good receiver, as the six-time Pro Bowler has been a top wide receiver in the NFL in his 11-year career. In 164 career games, Adams has 957 career catches for 11,844 yards and 103 touchdowns. Last season, across 14 games with the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, Adams had 67 catches for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. Adams signed with the Rams this offseason and gives the team one of the league's best wide receiver duos alongside star Puka Nacua. Chiefs' Steve Spagnuolo in crosshairs of Bills, Ravens, and Eagles fans after Joe Burrow comment captured in 'Quarterback' goes viral

Chiefs' Steve Spagnuolo in crosshairs of Bills, Ravens, and Eagles fans after Joe Burrow comment captured in 'Quarterback' goes viral originally appeared on A to Z Sports. Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo gave Joe Burrow the ultimate compliment, providing his take on a very big debate across the NFL. Advertisement On Tuesday, Netflix released the new season of "Quarterback," which featured Burrow. And the microphones caught an exchange between the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback and Spagnuolo. "Other than our guy, you're the best in the business," Spagnuolo said to Burrow after the Chiefs defeated the Bengals 26-25 in Week 2 of the 2024 season. "I'm not saying that 'cuz you're standing here." Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and Philadelphia Eagles fans will certainly have something to say about that considering Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts have all been in that conversation for the "best in the business." But, Spagnuolo is one of the most respected coaches in the NFL and for him to say this to Burrow speaks volumes. Plus, a matchup between the Bengals quarterback and Patrick Mahomes is always is fun to watch, with Burrow holding a 3-2 record over Kansas City. Advertisement As of now, the Chiefs and the Bengals aren't set to meet in the regular season until 2027, but the playoffs could bring these two talented quarterbacks against one another again. We'll just have to wait and see. Related: Patrick Mahomes makes one thing very clear ahead of the NFL's Top 100 list reveal before 2025 season View the original article to see embedded media. Summer is here, and it is everyone's favorite time of the year, scouting time. Are we going to write about quarterbacks? You know it, but why? Because other NFL teams will draft them, just as they will draft every other position. It all matters whether these players end up on the Bucs, the Bears, or the Steelers. We write these so Bucs fans can be the most informed fans. So if you are still with us, enjoy our latest Summer Scouting report as we prepare you for the Fall. Player Information Player: CJ Baxter School: Texas Height/Weight: 6-1/220 lbs. Baxter has a dual-threat ability out of the backfield which will be perfect for Arch Manning to exploit against opposing defenses. He has great awareness and vision as a ball carrier, and it allows for him to get the most out of every touch. He really surprised me with his footwork and route running ability, something I hope to see be even better in 2025. All in all, he will be in a loaded backfield at Texas, but his skillset is unique enough he will have every chance to shine when given the chance.
