Freeze has been doing some golfing recently, which sparked outrage from fans, given that he has not had a winning season with Auburn yet. He addressed the concerns on a recent episode of "See Ball Get Ball with David Pollack," emphasizing his commitment to the Tigers.
Auburn went to a bowl game in Freeze's first season with the program in 2023 but lost to the Maryland Terrapins in the Music City Bowl 31-13. In 2024, Auburn narrowly missed the postseason after losing the final game of the regular season to the Alabama Crimson Tide 28-14.

"You know, everybody seems to like to talk about my golf game," Freeze said. "… I do love golf. I enjoy playing, but what people don't realize is, you know, I assure you that I never missed a camp day or a recruiting day, but if camp got over at three o'clock one day, and Jill and I go out at 4:30, we absolutely might do that. And I'm not apologizing for that part of it. But my focus is 100% on getting Auburn in that win column this fall."

The 2025 season has not officially kicked off, but Auburn has already had a tough time lately, especially when it comes to recruiting. The Tigers have lost Shadarius Toodle to the Georgia Bulldogs, Devin Carter to the Florida State Seminoles and most recently Denairius Gray to the Kentucky Wildcats.
Freeze and Auburn face the Baylor Bears to open the year on August 29. Kick off is at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
