Pilot project uses steel slag for road repairs

1 2 Vijayawada: In a pioneering step toward converting industrial waste into infrastructure assets, the Andhra Pradesh government has launched a pilot project using advanced steel slag technology for road construction. BC Janardhan Reddy, special chief secretary for roads and buildings, investments, and infrastructure, inaugurated the experimental road repair work in Mandadam village near the secretariat on Monday. Reddy said that they have taken up the experiment following the instructions from chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He said that such innovative methods are being adopted and implemented on an experimental basis to provide better roads and quality standards. The official further said that it was part of chief minister's vision of creating "wealth from waste."
