PGRS at mandal, divisional and municipal levels today
Eluru: District collector K Vetriselvi said that with the aim of speeding up the resolution of public grievances and bringing it closer to the people, the state government is also conducting the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) services at the mandal, divisional and municipal levels on Monday. Similarly, at the district level, the PGRS programme is being conducted as usual from 10 am at the Collectorate's Godavari Conference Hall here. The government has now decentralised the complaints-receiving system that was previously implemented at the district level. Through this, people can submit their complaints directly to the nearest mandal offices, divisional offices, or municipal offices. Also, to file a complaint online from home, the official website provided by the government is: https://meekosam.ap.gov.in
To know information about complaint registration, complaint status etc., people can call the toll-free number 1100 (double one double zero). The Collector said that due to this system, people's problems will be immediately reached by the concerned authorities and resolved in a timely manner. She urged the people to avail this opportunity and make full use of it.

Shivraj slams forest officials, backs tribals in land dispute
Bhopal: Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday lashed out at forest department officials during a public meeting at the Sehore Collectorate, accusing them of harassing tribal communities and tarnishing the govt's image. His remarks came amid protests by tribal villagers opposing the proposed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sanctuary in the district. A large number of tribals gathered at the Collectorate to submit a memorandum demanding cancellation of the sanctuary project. The protestors, hailing from nearly 200 villages, claimed that over 2 lakh tribal residents who have been cultivating forest land for decades are now being targeted and labelled as illegal encroachers. Chouhan, who is also the MP from Vidisha and a senior BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh, assured the community of his full support. "Mama is with you," he told the gathering. "I warn the forest department — do not make the mistake of harassing these people. This will not be tolerated under any circumstances." The tribals allege that despite living and farming on forest land for 25 to 30 years, many have not been issued land rights under the Forest Rights Act, 2006. They claim that several applications submitted through the Van Mitra Portal have not been resolved, leaving them vulnerable to eviction. Chouhan assured the villagers that he would take up the matter directly with CM Mohan Yadav.

‘Maintain strict vigil at EVM storage facility'
Kurnool District Collector P Ranjith Basha has directed officials to maintain round-the-clock strict surveillance at the EVM (Electronic Voting Machines) storage facility. He issued these instructions during a quarterly inspection of the godown, conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. The inspection was carried out on Friday at the EVM godown located within the Collectorate premises, in the presence of representatives from various political parties. The Collector meticulously examined the storage of EVMs and reviewed the existing security arrangements inside the facility. Officials demonstrated the safeguards in place, and the Collector verified compliance with protocols. The transparent inspection aimed to build confidence among stakeholders regarding the secure handling of EVMs. Participating in the inspection were District Revenue Officer Venkata Narayanamma, Election Department Superintendent Murali and political party representatives including Sai Pradeep (BJP), Manjunath (Jana Sena), Arun Kumar (Bahujan Samaj Party district In-charge), P. Raju (Vice President, Telugu Yuvatha - TDP) and Bajaranna (Congress).

Implementation of government schemes reviewed at DISHA meeting in Dindigul
The implementation of Central and the State governments' schemes were reviewed at the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held at the Collectorate in Dindigul on Friday. The meeting was presided over by Dindigul MP R. Sachithanantham and Karur MP S. Jothimani. Mr. Sachithanantham said two main aspects were highlighted during the meeting. One was with regard to the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme and the other regarding the functioning of government schools. He said the MGNREGA scheme which provides 100 days of guaranteed employment and wages was an important scheme to alleviate poverty. A case study was conducted on its implementation in the district and to document it. Despite the issues with regard to the Centre's delay in releasing the funds, steps were being taken to effectively implement the scheme in the district, he said. On the functioning of government schools, he said they were functioning effectively and had achieved on a par with the private schools. The students of the government schools had fared well in the Class X and Class XII Public Examinations, he said. He added the government hospitals in the district were also functioning effectively. Referring to a recent case, he said a child had swallowed a safety pin. The parents had rushed the child to a private hospital for treatment. However, the child was referred to a government hospital where the safety pin was removed successfully, he said and appreciated the efforts taken by the authorities. Ms. Jothimani said the commitment of government schools was outstanding and they had beat all odds to achieve success. Steps were being taken to improve infrastructure in schools and provide smart classrooms. She said the authorities should ensure that it was implemented effectively. Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan, Vedasandur MLA S. Gandhirajan, Mayor Ilamathi Jothiprakash and other officials were present at the DISHA meeting.
