Coleen Nolan calls ITV staff cuts 'devastating' as Loose Women reduced to 30 weeks a year

'Some of our runners from back in the day are producers, married with kids. I've shared my life with them. They're in limbo, not knowing what they're going to do.'
Coleen Nolan has described the sweeping changes coming to ITV's daytime schedule as 'devastating,' admitting that many staff on Loose Women are now living in a state of limbo.
The popular daytime panel show, which celebrated Coleen's 25th year earlier in 2024, is one of several shows affected by ITV's decision to overhaul its daytime line-up.

Under the new plans, Loose Women will be cut down to just 30 weeks a year, with production teams across This Morning, Lorraine, and Loose Women set to be merged.

While the show itself is not coming to an end, Coleen has voiced deep concern over what the changes could mean for long-standing members of the behind-the-scenes team.
'The crew have become family. I've watched them grow,' she told Notebook magazine. 'Some of our runners from back in the day are producers, married with kids. I've shared my life with them. They're in limbo, not knowing what they're going to do.'
She added: 'Loose Women isn't ending, which I'm so thankful for, but it's changing. It's going to be very different in the respect of the size of the crew, but it's still running.
"Which it should be, there isn't another show that celebrates and supports all women of every size, age, whatever.
'But it's heartbreaking to see some of my colleagues not knowing what they're going to do. Many of them have young families and mortgages.'

ITV insiders have told The Mirror that the on-screen panel is expected to remain largely unchanged, but confirmed that a number of redundancies are likely among the production staff. The uncertainty has reportedly taken its toll behind the scenes.
Lorraine Kelly's show is also being trimmed, moving to a 30-minute slot each day and only running for 30 weeks a year.

In its place, Good Morning Britain will extend its broadcast to 9.30am, and during Lorraine's off-air weeks, GMB will run until 10am.
Coleen, who first joined the Loose Women panel in 2000 alongside Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, Ruth Langsford and Jane Moore, said she had never experienced anything like the changes currently sweeping through the show.

'You read about it all the time, a chain store's shutting down and 300 people are affected,' she said.
'You go, 'Oh that's awful. Anyway, what do you want for dinner?', because it doesn't directly affect you.
'I've never been so close to it. It's made me realise how much this is happening across the whole country at the moment and it's devastating.'
In a statement addressing the shake-up, Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, said: 'Our daytime slate is a really important part of what we do and the changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust.'

Expert says look for penny with 'strange' error worth £600

Brits have been urged to check their loose change for a valuable penny coin worth up to £600 that has a "strange" error - and it can be very difficult to spot. Brits are being encouraged to keep their eyes peeled for a rare penny coin that could be worth a small fortune. This particular bronze coin, potentially fetching up to £600 at auction, boasts an unusual error that collectors covet. Spotting the flaw might prove challenging, yet it's certainly worth the search. A coin enthusiast, known on TikTok as the Coin Collecting Wizard, delved into the details. ‌ Showcasing a 1893 penny in a video, he said: "Hey no biggie, just another old penny worth £600. This penny has a date of 1893 and you need to check this one for a very strange error that makes the coin valuable." ‌ As reported by the Daily Record, the coin displays the customary Britannia figure on its reverse, trident in hand. The obverse features the familiar 'bun head' portrait of Queen Victoria. But what elevates its value is a peculiar mistake in the date. He continued: "Known as the '1893 over two penny' what you need to pay close attention to is the number '3'. As you can see under the number three it looks like there is the start of a number two." In his video, he pointed out where the three in 1893 appears to have an additional line emerging from its centre. "The best way to notice this is where the three joins up in the middle," he advised. "If it doesn't look like they join up neatly then you have found it. The obverse of the coin is the usual Queen Victoria bun head and the reverse is Britannia seated holding a trident." The specialist commented: "This is such a difficult error to spot but it is well worth your time as uncirculated versions of this coin have sold for £600." ‌ He further guided treasure hunters: "So just remember you are looking for an old English penny from 1893 but that's only the first part. The next bit you need to look for is that 'three over two error'." Adding a tip for his followers, he said: "Save this for future reference so you know exactly what to look for. Good luck." Despite over eight million being produced, the 1893 penny's value remains not just in the rarity of its errors; even standard versions fetch a tidy sum due to their age. At the time of reporting, the Dorset Coin Company was selling a mint condition version of the non-error coin for £275.

I left Emmerdale stardom for a completely different job - here's how much soap actors REALLY get paid and why it doesn't go as far as you'd think

Former Emmerdale star Kelli Hollis has revealed how much soap actors REALLY get paid and why it doesn't go as far as you'd think. The actress, 48, who played Ali Spencer in the ITV soap between 2011 and 2015, recently ditched the showbiz life and relocated to Pattaya, Thailand. And she's doing something totally different to acting and is now the owner of a cannabis shop called La Choza Pratumnak. But a fan recently asked how much soap stars are paid, to which she said: '[On] Emmerdale I explained that you get an episode fee and you're guaranteed so many episodes a year... 'So if we're saying roughly £500 and up [per episode], and you were contracted to do 90 [episodes, that's 45k, it's obviously a good wage.' She continued: 'But it's not like the "rich, rich", you'd think famous actors would be earning.' The star added: 'Now, that's that sort of middle of the road [salary]. 'I'm not going to lie when I was at Emmerdale to my knowledge, one of the highest paid actors was on a thousand pound episodes.' The telly star also highlighted some fees that people in the industry wouldn't think about. Kelli said: 'It would only be 45, but then you get a buyout, which is pretty much the same as your wage, so I'll top that up to 90. 'Then, you've got the agent's commission, which is usually 12 and a half percent," she said. 'And because you're self-employed, you have to put 40 [per cent] away for tax.' Kelli owns her 'weed bar' with her partner Matt Dawson. Speaking to LeedsLive in 2023, Kelli opened up about her business, remarking: 'We'd been to Pattaya a few times on a holiday, we did a bit of island hopping and in June they legalised marijuana and we found this really cute little shop and got really good friends with the owner and decided to basically set up our own weed shop.' She went on to say of her shop, called La Choza Pratumnak: 'I'll be honest I've smoked weed since I was about fifteen but I'm not a hard-core weed smoker, I can't do full joints and edibles and all that so it probably bodes well or I'd probably smoke all the profits! 'It's definitely not something I envisaged but we've definitely made the right choice.' She's also opened up about her products that she sells. Speaking about her weed bar, Kelli said: 'I actually don't like the feeling [of being stoned]. "But to be honest, I have become a little partial to the edibles here, obviously, because I have to test the products. "But that is not to be stoned. 'I promote ours for rest and for aches and pains for people who don't want to smoke, so I will have mine before bed.' Kelli shot to fame in the late 90s. She played Yvonne Karib in Shameless between 2004 and 2010. The star also landed roles in Waterloo Road, Ackley Bridge and Clink. In 2020 she also played Rachel Edwards in Doctors.
