Michigan football predicted to land 4-star DT Titan Davis to 2026 defensive line

USA Today23-06-2025
Michigan football has a bit of a different identity from most other schools in college football. While many try to build high-flying offenses with defenses that simply can stave off the opponent, the Wolverines are all about the trenches on both sides of the ball.
On defense, the maize and blue already have an interior defensive lineman (Alister Vallejo) and two edge rushers (McHale Blade and Tariq Boney) committed, but they're looking to add more to the list. Is another coming soon?
2026 St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet four-star defensive tackle Titan Davis officially visited Ann Arbor over the weekend. Thought to be deciding between Michigan and Alabama, it's been unclear which way Davis has been leaning. However, coming out of the visit, On3's Steve Wiltfong says that the Wolverines have all the momentum, and he predicted that Davis would wear a winged helmet.
Michigan now has an 85.4% chance to land Davis via the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Davis' scouting report from 247Sports' Andrew Ivins:
Ascending defensive end with a prototypical frame that could fit into an odd or even front at the next level. Began his prep career playing quarterback before flipping to the other side of the ball and finding instant success in the trenches. Flashes the ability to separate and bypass base blocks with his lateral agility. Not the most destructive defender at this stage, but can find a flat back and shoot his hands to gain extension. Solid get-off frequently gives him an advantage in passing situations. Quick to unleash a bull-rush, but can also rip his way around the corner and has the stride length to finish. Enters senior year believed to be north of 6-foot-4, 265 pounds with adequate length in the arms. Must improve pad level and learn how to bring it every single snap, but appears to be rounding into form as he nearly doubled his production as a junior for Missouri's 6A champs. Projects as a potential multi-year contributor and possible impact player for a College Football Playoff contender. Should offer plenty of alignment flex and could very well end up finding a home on the inside depending on how the body matures.
Davis is listed at 6-foot-4.5, 270 pounds and is rated the No. 101 player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite.
It's currently not known when Davis will make a final decision. The Wolverines are also after several other defensive linemen, including edge rushers Carter Meadows, Julian Walker, Jackson Ford, and Trenton Henderson.

Notre Dame OT Charles Jagusah broke his arm during an UTV accident over the holiday

It wasn't the news that Notre Dame football wanted to hear, as on Sunday it was announced by the official press release team that projected offensive tackle starter Charles Jagusah was injured during an UTV accident and has undergone surgery on his left humerus. While the 'initial prognosis is favorable,' it remains to be seen how long he will miss as the season is rapidly approaching. It's the second-straight season that Jagusah won't be able to begin the season healthy, after injuring his shoulder last year. The sophomore came into the program with plenty of hype, ranked as the nation's No. 51 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite. Jagusah was able to see the field last year, but only due to the Irish making it to the College Football Playoff championship game. He was viewed as a starter heading into the season, but now Notre Dame will have to find his replacement while he recovers from yet another injury.

Five most important games on Michigan State football's schedule in 2025

See which five games are ranked as the most important for Michigan State football in 2025 If you had to pick one or two games Michigan State football must win this season, which ones would you choose? Well, I've came up with five. Michigan State will be kicking off the 2025 season in late August so we are less than two months away from Spartans football returning to our lives. Some may say that isn't necessarily a great thing, but all jokes aside, this is a massive year for Michigan State and the future of the program. In preparing for the upcoming season, I have taken a look over the schedule and pegged the top five games I believe are critical for the Spartans to experience success on the field. Each of these games have implications for this specific season and getting back to a bowl game for the first time since 2021, and also for the overall future of the program under head coach Jonathan Smith. So with all of that being said, let's check out my ranking of the five most important games on the Spartans' 2025 schedule, and significance they would mean for Michigan State to come out on top. No. 5 - Penn State When: November 15 Where: Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich. Reasoning: The first one on my list is probably the game Michigan State is least likely to win on the entire schedule, but it's included for one reason: this is a measuring stick game. If things go as expected, Penn State will come to Spartan Stadium in the midst of a Big Ten title chase and looking to lockup a spot in the College Football Playoff. With this being a home matchup, the expectation from fans should be that Michigan State is at least in the game in the second half and not getting their doors blown off by the Nittany Lions like we saw two years ago. I'm not going to say Michigan State should win this game but it should be close and certainly carries a ton of importance in the national realm of where the Spartans' program sits as we near the end of year two under Smith. No. 4 - Iowa When: November 22 Where: Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa Reasoning: Where this game falls on the schedule is the main reason for why I'm including this tough road game at Iowa. The Spartans head to Kinnick Stadium in late November off a tough stretch of games that includes at Indiana, Michigan, at Minnesota and Penn State. There's a chance Michigan State loses all four of those games (not what I'm predicting but certainly a chance) and in need of a win over the Hawkeyes to stop the bleeding and remain alive to reach the bowl season. Michigan State plays a very winnable game against Maryland in the season finale so if they can steal this one at Iowa ahead of that, then I would confidently say the Spartans are going bowling assuming they've already picked up at least four wins up to that point. No. 3 - UCLA When: October 11 Where: Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich. Reasoning: Michigan State comes into this game after a pair of tough road games to open Big Ten play at USC and Nebraska. So that, combined with a tough-ish home non-conference game against Boston College before those, and we could be looking at Michigan State ts anywhere from 2-3 to 5-0 when UCLA comes to Spartan Stadium. My guess is Michigan State will be either 3-2 or 4-1 at this point, meaning a win over the Bruins would go a long way in reaching bowl eligibility or even push the Spartans into the top 25 at the midway mark of the season. This game will have a ton of significance for where Michigan State ends up in 2025. No. 2 - Boston College When: September 6 Where: Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich. Reasoning: To me, this is a game that will be extremely telling for the 2025 season and potentially the entire Smith tenure at Michigan State. At home under the lights of Spartan Stadium in a week two matchup vs. Boston College will result in plenty of juice from the fanbase, and is simply a must-win for Michigan State this year. If the Spartans win this game, they'll almost certainly be 3-0 when they head out west to USC in late September to open Big Ten play -- which makes that a very intriguing game on the national level. If they lose to Boston College, the wheels could come off very quickly and Michigan State could find themselves below .500 and out of bowl contention before we hit the halfway point of the season. This feels like a massive swing game in a critical season for the program. No. 1 - Michigan When: October 25 Where: Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich. Reasoning: It's pretty simple why this game is at the top of the list, but even more than the rivalry itself, the result of this year's matchup against the Wolverines will carry ramifications beyond just 2025. It felt like Michigan State let one go in last year's game at Michigan Stadium, and would have put the rebuild so much farther ahead had they held on against the Wolverines. Now, Michigan State is looking at another great opportunity to beat the Wolverines with an anticipated true freshman starting at quarterback in Bryce Underwood. If Michigan State can't beat the five-star quarterback this year as a true freshman, then I'm not sure when will be the next time they do beat their in-state rivals. It's already been three years since Kenneth Walker III carried Michigan State to the win over Michigan, and if they don't get them this year, then it may be another three more years before Paul Bunyan returns to East Lansing, Mich. What to know about the Michigan Wolverines in 2025

After working years to climb to the top of the college football world and finally claiming a long-awaited national championship in the 2023 season, the Michigan Wolverines stumbled back to the pack in the 2024 season. A fall from the top of the college football pecking order was to be expected given the roster turnover and losing Jim Harbaugh as head coach to a return to the NFL, putting new head coach Sherrone Moore in a bit of an unenviable position at the helm of the reigning national champs. But Michigan managed to end the 2024 season with some good momentum and has a star freshman set to take over at quarterback this fall. Could Michigan return to the College Football Playoff conversation this season, or will Michigan be in a bit of a rebuilding season once again as they look to regain the upper hand in the Big Ten? Here is a quick look at the Michigan Wolverines as they head into the 2025 season. 2024 in review Michigan won it all in the 2023 season but got off to a bit of a rocket start in the 2024 season. Michigan was quickly dropped back to some reality in Week 2 by losing at home to the Texas Longhorns by a score of 31-12. IT was clear this Michigan season was going to be much different from the previous few seasons. Michigan regained some footing with three straight wins following its loss to the Longhorns to remain in the top half of the top 25 rankings, but back-to-back losses to Washington and Illinois on the road dropped Michigan out of the rankings for the remainder of the season. Michigan was blown out at home by Oregon and lost a tough battle against a Cinderella Indiana Hoosiers team, but ended the season with a heated victory over arch rival Ohio State, continuing a winning streak against the Buckeyes. Michigan faced off with Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Years Eve, a far cry from their last postseason matchup to start 2024 in the Rose Bowl semifinal round of the College Football Playoff. Michigan jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter and held Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe to just 16-of-32 passing for 192 yards with an interception. The Michigan defense forced three total turnovers against the Crimson Tide and held Alabama to 260 yards of total offense. Michigan only managed 190 yards of offense but somehow got away with it in the win. Head coach profile Sherrone Moore took over as head coach of the Michigan program after Jim Harbaugh accepted an offer to coach in the NFL from the Los Angeles Chargers, and it was a tough spot to step into at the time. Moore took some criticisms along the way as Michigan was run over at home by Texas in Week 2 and entered November with a pedestrian 5-3 record before losing back-to-back games against Oregon and Indiana at the start of November. But Moore silenced some of his critics after leading Michigan to a shocking 13-10 victory at Ohio State to end the regular season, thus knocking Ohio State out of the Big Ten championship game and allowing Penn State to step in to face the Ducks. Moore added one more notable win to his profile by leading Michigan to a 19-13 victory over Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl to give Michigan an 8-5 record. It may not have been the encore to a national championship that Michigan fans wanted to see, but wins over Ohio State and Alabama helped change some of the narrative around Moore's job security. Top offensive player Is it premature to suggest Michigan's best offensive player is freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood? It is possible that Underwood does not start the season at quarterback for the Wolverines, but he will likely be the starter for the majority of the season. There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about what the star-studded freshman will bring to the Michigan offense, a unit that is starving for a jolt in the passing game. Underwood will benefit from getting his experience now and the big payoff for Michigan may come in future seasons, but the world is waiting to see how Underwood performs in Ann Arbor. Top defensive player Michigan will not have to worry about its defense much in 2025. The defensive side of the football tends to be pretty consistent and is coming off a season in which it befuddled eventual national champion Ohio State and Alabama in the final two games of the year by allowing just 23 combined points. Michigan's defense will remain tough, and defensive end Derrick Moore will be one of the leaders of the entire unit. Moore is a two-time All-Big Ten player and tends to be seen in the mix, causing some panic in the backfield. His numbers may be lacking compared to other stellar defensive ends, but he will be having an impact on things this season, and opposing quarterbacks should be aware of his presence on every down. 2025 schedule Michigan faces a pretty challenging schedule this season that includes two road trips in September, a rarity for Michigan. Michigan gets an early litmus test in Week 2 at Oklahoma and then travels to a potentially rejuvenated Nebraska two weeks later to close out September. A 2-2 start to the season would not be a shock but would be unpleasant to see for Michigan faithful. The Wolverines also have to travel to USC in between home games against Wisconsin and Washington before making a short road trip to rival Michigan State in October. Michigan will get a chance to extend its winning streak against bitter rival Ohio State at home this season. In all, this is a tricky schedule for a Michigan program looking to regain its footing as one of the Big Ten's best, but the Wolverines benefit from missing conference matchups with Penn State and Oregon this year. A path to the Big Ten championship game could be paved if the Wolverines can get some momentum early on with road wins at Nebraska and USC.
