Andhra Pradesh MPs have turned puppets in the hands of Prime Minister Modi, alleges APCC chief Sharmila
Addressing the media here, Ms. Sharmila alleged that the 25 MPs in Lok Sabha and 11 in Rajya Sabha were vying with each other to support the Bills passed by the NDA government at the Centre, and doing nothing for the welfare of the State.
Referring to the promised Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh, she said the issue was given a quiet burial with none of the MPs raising it on the Floor of the House. Even after 11 years, the fate of Polavaram project continued to hang fire. The Reorganisation Act had clearly stated that the Central Government must construct the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, but it shirked the responsibility by giving loans of ₹15,000 crore to the State, she said.
She further said that the ₹25,000 crore special package promised to the backward regions was not implemented. The MPs remained silent even as the Centre went ahead with its plan to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, she alleged.
Farmers faced shortage of urea, she said, adding that despite knowing that the State faced a debt of ₹11 lakh crore, the NDA government in the State promised unemployment allowance and creation of 20 lakh jobs.

YSRCP chief Jagan likens AP situation to ‘Emergency'; says heavy police deployment is to suppress dissent
NELLORE: YSRCP President and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the ruling TDP-led NDA government, likening the political situation in the State to an 'Emergency' under the 'Red Book Constitution'. During his Nellore visit, Jagan met former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy at the Nellore Central Jail. Later, he visited the residence of former MLA Prasanna Kumar Reddy to express solidarity with his family following a recent alleged attack. Addressing the media at Sujathamma colony, Jagan accused the ruling TDP of resorting to undemocratic measures. 'Why are thousands of police officers deployed, not for law and order, but to suppress my supporters?' he questioned. He accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of political vendetta. Accusing the TDP of running an illegal liquor mafia, the YSRCP chief alleged that liquor is being sold at inflated rates from 'unauthorised rooms' under the coalition government, and commissions are being pocketed by Naidu and his MLAs. The former chief minister also alleged large-scale illegal mining of silica and quartz, with kickbacks going to Naidu and his son Lokesh. To monitor the crowd and ensure law and order, the district police deployed 157 CCTV cameras, 14 drones, a special surveillance drone from Tirupati, and mobile camera units.

Annadata scheme to benefit over 2.5 lakh farmers in AP's Krishna, NTR districts
VIJAYAWADA: The TDP-led NDA government's flagship initiative, Annadata Sukhibhava, is set to brighten 2,54,036 farmers lives across the erstwhile Krishna district. This includes 1,34,424 farmers in Krishna and 1,19,612 in NTR districts, who will receive a financial aid of Rs 20,000 each under the combined Annadata Sukhibhava–PM-Kisan scheme. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will officially launch the scheme on August 2, releasing the first tranche of Rs 7,000 (Rs 5,000 from the State and Rs 2,000 from PM-Kisan). The support will be provided in three installments. As part of its poll promise under the Super Six initiative, the State government will contribute Rs 14,000 annually to supplement the Rs 6,000 from the Centre's PM-Kisan scheme. Though initially announced in 2024, the scheme was delayed due to financial and technical constraints. Now, with hurdles cleared, the State government is moving ahead with its implementation after a rigorous verification process. Farmers' eligibility was authenticated using Webland data, Aadhaar-based eKYC, and verification through Village Agriculture Assistants, Mandal Agriculture Officers, and MROs. The data was further validated by NPCI and respective banks. A final list of eligible farmers has been circulated to village secretariats and posted at Rythu Seva Kendrams (RSKs). Krishna District Agriculture Joint Director Manohar Rao confirmed that verification is complete, with a few cases pending due to incomplete eKYC. 'Grievances are being accepted to resolve rejected applications due to technical issues,' he added. Farmers have welcomed the initiative. Katta Nageswara Rao from Arthamuru village expressed gratitude to Naidu, stating the assistance will help him purchase fertilisers and cover key agricultural expenses. With disbursements set to begin, hopes are high that the scheme will provide timely relief to farming community.
