Neighbours boss confirms if Kylie and Jason will return in second finale
In 2022, Channel 5 aired the last ever episode of Neighbours. It featured the return of a whole host of familiar characters including Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue's Scott and Charlene.
Months later, streaming platform Amazon Freevee picked the show up, allowing it to return.
Earlier this year, fans were heartbroken once more as they learnt the soap had been cancelled again.
The final scenes are being filmed in July, with the last episode set to air in December.
Ahead of the farewell, show producer Jason Herbison has opened up about what to expect for the last instalment.
'I've already written it, and I would say that I definitely am not going to try and compete with that finale', he told Back to the Bay, noting the 2022 episode.
'I haven't picked up the phone to Jason [Donovan] and Kylie [Minogue] and Guy [Pierce] again. I've left them alone, but it will be very similar in tone. I think it's a very warm, hopeful tone, but it's also a little bit different. There are things about it that I think might remind people of the previous finale, but it's also very different.' Jason went on to stay that he remains hopeful this isn't the last we've seen of Ramsay Street.

'I think, as has been well documented, the show's not ending because people aren't still enjoying it. We still have an amazing following.
'Unfortunately, the closure of Amazon Freevee did mean the end of the show. But having said that, at the end of this chapter of the show, they were terrific and gave us lots of notice on it as well, which is as much as you can possibly hope for. It wasn't something that took anyone by surprise.

ITV The Chase taken off air amid major schedule shake-up
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Chase has been axed following a significant schedule reshuffle this week. The popular ITV programme will experience disruption to its regular timetable due to ITV's coverage of the UEFA Women's Euros. The quiz show, presented by Bradley Walsh, typically broadcasts every weekday at 5pm on ITV1, along with a celebrity special episode aired each Saturday. However, The Chase will not be shown at its usual time slot on Monday, July 7 as Spain vs Belgium will dominate ITV1 from 4:15pm for a 5pm kick-off time. A second celebrity special episode will be broadcast on Sunday, July 6 at 5:30pm on ITV1. The episode will feature Melvin Odoom, Carl Fogarty, Louis Smith and Bonnie Langford who will pit their general knowledge skills against one of The Chasers. The ITV quiz show boasts a team of some of the UK's top quizzers including Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer), Jenny Ryan (The Vixen), Darragh Ennis (The Menace), Mark Labbett (The Beast), Anne Hegerty (The Governess), and Paul Sinha (The Sinnerman). (Image: ITV) It first graced our screens in 2009 and quickly became a hit with fans. Bradley Walsh has led the quiz show since its inception in 2009. The successful show sees regular contestants compete and test their general knowledge skills with the opportunity of taking home a substantial cash prize. Regular episodes of The Chase resume as normal on Tuesday, July 8 at 5pm on ITV1, reports the Liverpool Echo. But it isn't the first time The Chase has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts on ITV1. (Image: ITV) Last month, the popular game show was temporarily removed from the schedule to accommodate ITV's coverage of Royal Ascot. It wasn't just a single evening that the horse racing event claimed the prime TV slot; The Chase was in fact cancelled for the entire week. The Chase isn't the only programme facing disruption this week. Viewers were disheartened to discover that both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have also been disrupted from their usual timetable due to the UEFA Women's Euros. Coronation Street typically broadcasts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for an hour-long episode from 8pm until 9pm. However, fans will have to wait until Thursday evening, at a later time of 9pm, for the first episode of the week next week. Monday and Wednesday have been removed from the schedule. Meanwhile, in Yorkshire, Emmerdale enthusiasts can usually tune in to the drama in the Dales every weeknight from 7:30pm. Similar to its rival soap Coronation Street, no episode will air on Monday, July 7 or Wednesday July, 9. The Chase: Celebrity Special airs Sunday at 5:30pm on ITV1.

‘Millionaire Castaway' David Glasheen dead at 81 after starring in Channel 5 island doc with Ben Fogle
'NATIONAL TREASURE' 'Millionaire Castaway' David Glasheen dead at 81 after starring in Channel 5 island doc with Ben Fogle Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Former millionaire David Glasheen, who moved to a desert island after losing his fortune, has died aged 81. The ex-stockbroker had been living alone on the idyllic Restoration Island, located off North East Australia, since 1997 after losing his fortune in the stock exchange crash 10 years prior. The ex-gold mining tycoon and property magnate, who at his most successful was worth an estimated £22million, lived in a wooden beach shack with only his loyal dog Polly for company. But despite having limited electricity, fresh water and facing regular battles against deadly wildlife, the bearded exile insisted he felt safe on the island in an interview a few years ago. He said: "Here there are snakes, spiders and crocodiles but it is safer here than lots of other parts of the world when you hear about terrorist attacks. "I love it here because I have my safety, no matter how old and how tough you are you still want to go to bed knowing you are not going to be attacked.' Self-sufficient David, who was born in Sydney's Northern Beaches to an Irish family, added at the time that there was nowhere he'd rather be than on his "heaven on earth" natural paradise. He said: "I want to die here – where else would I? This is my heaven on earth. "When I came here I was sick of money – money is what makes people sick – and my marriage had broken apart. "But being on your own you do miss intelligent conversation and the physical contact of other people. "I would love to find a partner who wants to live with me here, or a couple of ladies who want to come and visit a couple of times a year. "The elements and wildlife are dangerous – if you do get into trouble here, you are pretty much dead. The saltwater crocodiles are beautiful animals – they are dangerous but I love them.' Broadcaster Ben shared the tragic news on social media. The tribute read: "So sad to hear that Dave Glasheen has passed away. "He was one of the first Wildmen I visited for New Lives in the Wild. "He really was one of a kind and I feel so fortunate to have met him a few times and spent time with him on his little Australian paradise. "Dave was 81 and lived the richest life I know. "Dave found true happiness when he lost his millions and reconnected with nature. "Rest in Peace Dave." Born to a wealthy family originally from County Cork, Ireland, David was educated at a private boarding school and began a career as a businessman after university. He developed a gold mining company in Papua New Guinea but lost an estimated £5.5 million in the 12 months after the October 1987 global financial crash. Soon after David's wife left him and when he met a new girlfriend who told him she wanted to run away to a desert island he began searching for such a place. He first visited the 100-acre Restoration Island – located almost 621 miles from Cairns, the nearest city, in 1993 before moving for good when he secured a 50-year lease from the state of Queensland in May 1997. And though his then-partner decided life as a hunter gatherer was not for her, David made the exiled existence his own despite legal wrangles over the years. The bearded castaway entertained backpackers, tourists and even Russell Crowe to his isolated oasis. An internet connection allowed David to follow the news, keep in touch with the outside world via social media and watch Britain's Got Talent videos on YouTube - once a guilty pleasure of his. But he has no direct electricity – relying on solar panels and a backup generator – and limited running water was only installed a few years ago.

Corrie's Gareth Pierce reveals Todd's worrying future as Theo drama spirals
Gareth Pierce has played troublemaker Todd Grimshaw since 2020. When the Coronation Street character returned, he was hellbent on splitting Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) up. The plan was complex and put a spotlight on the traits that certainly proved Todd didn't have the best moral compass. The narrative reached a dramatic conclusion, and Todd became isolated from the likes of Billy, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) due to the depths he sunk to in the process. It's safe to say that this was the last storyline where Todd was really in the centre of the spotlight. During the pandemic, there was a period where Todd and Billy's friendship started to mend itself, and the character was also involved in drama at the funeral parlour alongside friend and colleague George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley). As a huge fan of the character, I found the lack of screentime for Todd somewhat frustrating in this period. In 2022, I wrote about how he had been put back on the bench so soon after the story with Billy and Paul, and it truly felt like the soap was missing an opportunity to have him at the centre of a really powerful plot exploring his mental health, and how the plan of his really impacted him. But, time has past and now, things are changing. Recently, I sat down with star Gareth Pierce to discuss Todd's journey in Weatherfield since he took over the role. We spoke about the many layers of Todd and the growth the character has had, but started with talking about the return five years ago. 'I guess at the start it was about establishing the recast. And also, I suppose what was harder for that at that time, was that you were seeing Todd kind of at his worst as well, where he was, you know, coming back very jealous, probably full of shame as well, in the ways that he's kind of let down Billy and Summer, in the way that he'd left and then just returned determined to split him and Paul. 'I think it was that initial kind of year and a half or so that was super, super busy. And then I suppose, in terms of the MND storyline, Todd was a little bit more peripheral than that. But then that was still to Todd's benefit, because I think you kind of ended up with some really sweet scenes and also, a sweet friendship between Paul and Todd, which obviously didn't look very likely in terms of the way they originally met.' It was earlier this year that saw a huge new storyline finally begin for Todd. He met a scaffolder called Theo, played by James Cartwright, and things really haven't been the same since. We've learnt since then that Theo is an incredibly complex person with a traumatic past. He had been living with wife Danielle (Natalie Anderson) and their children for many years, with Danielle previously having no clue that Theo is gay. His difficult upbringing was then explored, with Theo revealing that he had been put through conversion therapy. Theo often experiences angry and confusing outbursts as a result of a lot of things floating around his mind, and it's something Todd is trying to help him with. 'I think we have a more mature version of Todd now. I think going through losing a young friend like Paul, it's made him rehabilitate himself and prove he's changed. I think we definitely do have a more mature version of Todd that is maybe able to deal with what life throws at him, but we can't forget that not too long ago we had a Todd that felt a little bit like the boy that had never grown up. 'I think he might have a creeping feeling that this is too big for him and that he is out of his depth but also, I think he's changed to the point that he's more likely to see fault in himself than the other person, and be willing to try.' This week, Theo exuded his jealousy when he found out that Todd win a compromising situation with James Bailey (Jason Callender). James made a move, and although Todd rejected him, Theo walked in at the wrong time. It is perhaps seen as something relatively small to Todd, given it's the start of a new relationship for him and Theo but to the audience, who are viewing Theo's behaviour from a different perspective to Todd, it's a sign that things may get worse. 'I think it's far more interesting if there's a part of Todd that is flattered by that flirtation [between him and James], that does potentially flirt back a bit', Gareth explained. 'I think that probably in terms of where he is with Theo in the relationship at that point, there is a sense that he can maybe see a slightly easier path that's there with James. 'I don't think that he's tempted to the point that he would do something. I think he pulls back from there, but I think that it's far more interesting…because we know Todd can make plenty of ill-advised choices, and do plenty of less or have plenty less appealing aspects to his character. So I think it's important that we hold on to those.' Opening up about the future of this story, Gareth told me: 'I think at this point, we're starting to spot some anger management issues on Theo's part, at the very least. There's some flashes of anger that have left Todd shocked but equally, because he's had that insight into the conversion therapy and where Theo is coming into this new life from, he's perhaps willing to guide him through it. 'He's trying to be understanding of Theo. He's been suppressing his sexuality for so long, Todd is trying to encourage him towards being someone that can be comfortable in their new gay identity. 'I think Todd has spotted many things from Theo, but he still has the mindset that he can fix this and because of the love that's there, he's thinking they will get through it. Our audience are probably also spotting some of those flashes of jealousy and perhaps a kind of need to control that maybe Todd is not currently spotting or doesn't want to spot.' Gareth went on to highlight that Todd will struggle to differentiate between what is out of order where Theo's behaviour is concerned, and what can be forgiven due to the life he's lived so far. 'I think that's definitely going to be a complicating factor going forward. He knows there are very valid reasons for Theo's confusion and probably some internalised homophobia, but that doesn't mean you can excuse all of the less healthy approaches to navigating the relationship. 'That will be, in many ways, Todd's biggest challenge, how to steer the relationship to somewhere healthy.' As this story begins to gather pace, Gareth also confirmed Todd's relationship with George will continue to be explored. More Trending 'What's nice is that they've got a very solid friendship, and George is like a father figure that Todd has never had. What's important I think is the intention of friendship hasn't weakened just because Eileen has gone. I definitely think that George will be someone that's still looking out for Todd.' 'A few years ago there was a moment where George connected with Todd because he believed in him. I think from George's perspective, he sees a little bit of himself in Todd. He shows faith in some moments. 'I think there was a similar level of vulnerability from Todd there [in the scene earlier in the week]. He's really revealing quite a lot about his true feelings, which we know that he tends to deflect with sarcasm and sardonic looks a lot of the time.'
