Rangers transfer news as £4million 'target' holds exit talks while Barisic and Lundstram 'unwanted' in Turkey
Reported Rangers transfer target Vicente Pizarro is reportedly holding crunch talks over his future.
Sources in South America had linked Gers with the Chilean midfielder - who plays for league champions Colo Colo - last month, with Serie A side Udinese also said to be keen admirers.
The 22-year-old has already racked up over 100 appearances for his boyhood club and has also won seven caps for Chile at senior level.
Prior to his exit as part of the 49ers Enterprises ownership shake-up, former Ibrox sporting directo r Nils Koppen jetted out to South America at the end of May for a transfer summit, where chiefs from clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen gathered to share information on potential targets.
And while Pizarro wasn't thought to be on Rangers' radar at the time, a fresh report claims that the player - who is the son of Chile's minister for sport Jaime Pizarro - could be on the move this summer.
Chilean outlet Trifuno claim that Pizarro's representatives have held discussions with club president Anibal Mosa about ramping up interest in the 5ft 8" midfielder.
Pizzarro is under contract at Colo Colo until December 2027 and reports last month claimed that the Chilean side have placed a $5.5million (£4million) price tag on his head.
Boss Russell Martin has seen his midfield ranks bolstered with the arrival of Dundee star Lyall Cameron and the ex Scotland international is poised to be reunited with Bournemouth's Joe Rothwell - who is closing in on a move to Ibrox after previously playing under Martin at Southampton.
Meanwhile, former Rangers duo Borna Barisic and John Lundstram are both expected to leave Trabzonspor this summer - with the former reportedly attracting interest from the Middle East.
Both players arrived in Turkey 12 months ago following their departures from Ibrox under freedom of contract.
However, it proved to be a disappointing campaign for both, with midfielder Lundstram facing calls to have his contract TERMINATED from sections of the club's fanbase just weeks after his arrival following Trabzonspor's Conference League exit to Swiss side St Gallen on penalties.
Croatia international Barisic endured a torrid year with injury and made just 15 appearances in total before being shipped out on loan to La Liga outfit Leganes, where he suffered a serious cruciate ligament tear that ended his participation in the remainder of the season just 10 minutes into his debut against Valencia.
The full back is still yet to fully recover from that injury and neither he or Barisic have been snapped with the rest of their teammates following Trabzonspor's return for pre-season training.
Turkish outlet Karadeniz claim that Barisic could leave the club on a free transfer if a mutual agreement can be struck. The defender has a year remaining on his deal and will reportedly require Trabzonspor to pay him €1.8million upfront to release him from his duties.
Lundstram is under contract until 2027 and the report adds that while no offers have been submitted, clubs in the Middle East are keeping tabs.

The five new signings Rangers want next including three wingers as transfer plan throws weight behind burning Patati link
Rather than slowing down, the Ibrox signing frenzy looks set to accelerate Rangers remain in the market for at least five new signings after landing Thelo Aasgaard today – with three wingers targeted as well as defensive duo Conor Coady and Nasser Djiga. The new Ibrox owners haven't hung about in splashing the cash since taking over with deals struck this week to sign Aasgaard as well as Emmanuel Fernandez and Joe Rothwell. Max Aarons also came in on loan while Lyall Cameron on a pre-contract agreement beefs out the midfield. But rather than slowing down, the signing frenzy looks set to accelerate. interested in 'Brazilian magician' Weslley Patati, a versatile attacker who primarily plays off the right wing. Those reports are yet to be substantiated but the £8.6m rated Brazilian certainly seems to fit the bill, because the Rangers Review report that, even with Aasgaard in the building, Rangers are in the market for THREE new wingers. As things stand, the only wide options available to Russell Martin are Oscar Cortes, Rabbi Matondo and Ross McCausland – a thin pool that lacks the proven, consistent quality the club are seeking in those positions. Patati may well be one, while they've also been linked with Como's Samuel Ballet this week and the 24-year-old could be another on the way in if Rangers decide to ramp things up. They may however want to first see where the land lies with Hamza Igamane, because if his move to Lille goes through at the £15m price Rangers are demanding, that could free up funds to spend bigger on forward targets than the club had previously planned to. As well as the new trio of wide men, at the other end it's believed deals are close for Coady and Djiga. The Ibrox side are in talks with Leicester to land Englishman Coady, who is understood to be keen on the move north. Djiga, meanwhile, is poised to come in on loan from Wolves next week – well in time for the Champions League qualifying opener with Panathinaikos later this month. All five of those deals are expected to be independent of any exits. A new striker, for instance, will presumably catapult up the shopping list if and when deals are agreed to sell Igamane and Cyriel Dessers, with Danilo the only senior striking option outside that pair. Celtic to get Como Cup surprise as local Italian group prepare hero's welcome for Brendan Rodgers and Co
The Premiership champions will take part in a four-team pre-season tournament in the picturesque Italian city A group of diehard Celtic fans based in Italy are planning to show the world just how much they love the Hoops when Brendan Rodgers and Co roll into Lombardy for the Como Cup later this month. The Parkhead giants will compete in a four-team tournament alongside Ajax, Al-Ahli of the Saudi Pro League and hosts Como in the first edition of the new Football on The Lake Festival. Celtic face Eredivisie side Ajax in a semi-final clash on July 24, with the winners going onto take on the victors of the other last four tie three days later – a tie that could see Nicolas Kuhn face off with the Hoops if his £17.2m move goes through as expected. The losers of the two games will also contest a third-place play-off on July 26. The tournament in the scenic town will give Hoops fans the chance to sample what the scenic Italian city of Como has to offer, with the Serie A side's Giuseppe Sinigaglia stadium just a few steps away from the famous Lake Como. And those making the journey from further afield are set to be welcomed by Parkhead fanatics from the Lecco Celtic supporter's club. A group of 25 supporters will make the short trip to Como from nearby Lecco to help generate an atmosphere ahead of the tournament. The Lecco fan group founded in 2019 are one of five officially recognised Celtic supporters clubs' in Italy. The fan group are based in Lecco's Shamrock Irish Pub and are said to have organised five nights of music from Irish artists Richie Prendergast and Eimehar Rebel to give fans making the trip an authentic experience. Briefs for the matches are not particularly cheap, with supporters in the Celtic designated areas of the stadium having to fork out €35 (£30) to see their team up close. And while other Celtic supporters' clubs in the country are believed to have turned their noses down at the prices for the tournament, Lecco fan group president Paolo Gulisano insists his party could not pass up the opportunity to show their love for their team. Speaking to LeccoToday, he said: "As soon as we learned of Celtic's participation in the Como Cup, we took action to organize ourselves and to not miss our contribution to the team. "Seeing Celtic on our lake will be a unique opportunity and we certainly could not be discouraged by an objectively high price for a summer friendly." Ahead of their trip to Italy, Celtic are over in Ireland next Tuesday (July 8) to take on Cork City. Rodgers' side will then venture to Lisbon to face Sporting eight days later before welcoming Newcastle to Celtic Park on Saturday, July 19.
