Jake Quickenden, who first found fame on The X Factor, has become a familiar face on This Morning, often presenting segments with the public around Britain.
He has embraced this role, making it distinctly his own through his engaging interactions.
However, on Saturday (July 12), Jake, also known for his stint on I'm A Celebrity, took to Instagram to share that he had sustained an injury during the gruelling Yukon 1000 boat race. Jake and his fitness trainer companion Matty Green had to pull out of the arduous competition when Jake injured his wrist.
Sharing his disappointment and determination, Jake posted: "It was fun while it lasted, I can say was the most amazing, scary and utterly bonkers 36 hours I've had in my life. Already so p***ed off ready to try again next year.
"Sometimes the universe tells you something isn't right and this time I listened and we had to get out, I wanted to get home to my kids and wife, I lost my dad young and it affects me everyday I didn't want that for my lads," Jake shared.
Despite initially making a strong start, Jake recounted how their challenge took a turn when they were hit by a wave and capsized.
"I couldn't get my spray deck off and was under water what seemed like 3 minutes when I came up I was pretty panicked and we had to swim the boat back to the side luckily we wasn't in the middle or it could have been bad, got the water out, the boat got dry and managed to set off again after losing about an hour, just when we got moving the pedal of the boat snapped and we couldn't turn left."
Jake then began to question whether they were meant to continue. "This is when I was like is this meant to be, I believe in all that stuff and felt like we were being told to get out, we didn't listen we fixed the boat but by this time the storm had hit and we needed to camp to shelter from the wind and rain and the lake which if we hadn't have gone in we would have been off was now too dangerous to paddle on and I'm so glad we don't risk trying.
"We camped bear spray in hand and woke up around 3.30am after now losing 8 hours of time. We packed up got in the boat and wanted to push on we finished the 17k of the lake and we was on the river and ready to push on and try and make the cut off time, as we was celebrating making the river, we hit a boiling eddy that pulled us under and spat us out like nothing," he recounted.

Jake went on: "We came up and was about to go down the river for I don't know how long ( which could have been bad) when out of nowhere again like it was meant to happen. Kyle and Mel, two American travellers who just happened to have finished fishing, jumped in the canoe and pulled us to the side.
"They were honestly angels and I personally think they stopped something really bad from happening. We got dry and realised I had a pretty beat up wrist and a broken boat and after 4 bits of bad luck we should call it.

"So we called it and for me and matty that's a hard thing to do, we knew we probs wouldn't make the cut off time in Dawson, not with the boat and my wrist, and like I said something felt off like it's was trying to get us off that river everytime something went good something terrible brought us back down to earth."
Acknowledging that 'sometimes you fail that's life', Jake expressed gratitude to his supporters for their 'love and support', revealing he had 'learnt more over 48 hours than ever before'.

Jay Blades 'just weeks away from starring in new reality TV show' before arrest
Former BBC Repair Shop host Jay Blades is said to have signed up to a brand new ITV reality show but was dropped when news of his arrest emerged weeks before filming started Axed BBC star Jay Blades was reportedly set to appear on a brand new reality TV show before his arrest came to light. The former Repair Shop host pleaded not guilty following being charged with engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour towards his estranged wife last year. Blades, who rose to fame on the hit BBC show, was arrested on May 3. It was the same day his wife Lisa Zbozen publicly announced her split from the presenter after 18 months of marriage. He was said to have signed up to new ITV show Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters before his arrest. However, the show was reportedly thrown into chaos after allegations emerged with bosses taking swift action to remove Blades. 'Attracting a popular BBC star to be in the new ITV series was a big win for bosses," a source told the Sun. 'But as soon as Jay Blades was arrested in March 2024, they knew they had to make a quick decision about the future of the show. 'He was given the boot. Producers got lucky as they hadn't started filming or doing any promotion yet so were able to replace him with someone else." They added travel plans had been put in place for those taking part, so his exit caused "upset and disruption" behind the scenes. Blades became a household name when he began hosting The Repair Shop in 2017 when the show first aired on BBC Two. In October 2022 the dad-of-three was the lead presenter for a special edition of the BBC series featuring the newly crowned King Charles. He then worked on a 15-part restoration series with Only Fools and Horses star Sir David Jason. David and Jay's Touring Toolshed aired at the start of last year and was a hit with viewers. However, recent episodes were pulled from the BBC schedule and catch-up programmes. Blades was due to head to the Bahamas alongside the likes of Sir Lenny Henry and Call the Midwife 's Helen George to overcome their fear of sharks in the ground-breaking new show premiering this week. Ross Noble, Countdown's Rachel Riley, McFly's Dougie Poynter, Amandaland's Lucy Punch and TV presenter Ade Adepitan also took part in the series that marks 50 years since the release of iconic film Jaws. They were taught to dive by an instructor with missing limbs and challenged to confront their greatest fear and flown to the island on Bimini in the Bahamas, home to around 10 different species of shark. Weeks after the series was announced, Blades was arrested and charged. He appeared at Worcester Crown Court in October where he spoke to confirm his identity and entered his not guilty plea. The trial begins on August 26 and is expected to last two weeks. The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment.

Christine McGuinness' wild fling with soap star - everything we know so far
Paddy McGuinness' ex-wife, Christine McGuinness, reportedly had a 'fun fling' with a soap actress after the pair hit it off at a star-studded awards ceremony in 2023 Christine McGuinness has kept coy about her private life since spitting up with her ex, Paddy McGuinness. Fresh from the breakup in 2022, the former Miss Liverpool, 37, conceded she wasn't ready to date after calling it quits with the dad of her three kids, 51, following 11 years of marriage. However, last year, Christine revealed she was dating again and now she's been linked to a famous soap star after the pair reportedly hit it off at a glamorous awards ceremony in 2023. The actress' identity remains under wraps, however, Christine was said to have enjoyed spending time with the famous face after flirting up a storm at the awards bash. READ MORE: Christine McGuinness 'had fling with soap star after instant chemistry at awards event' Sources have claimed that Christine and the TV star "had a fling" as well as fun after catching each other's eye at the glitzy ceremony. The pair are reported to have enjoyed partying with one another after "sharing messages", before things between them ultimately fizzled out - despite their "strong chemistry". "Christine was single at the time and they really enjoyed the evening of the awards bash," a source said. They went on to tell The Sun: "There was a strong chemistry between them and they shared some messages, but it never went any further after that." The fling was said to have happened in 2023, less than a year after Christine's split from Paddy. The mum-of-three, who split from the former Top Gear host after 11 years of marriage, said she wasn't ready to date after the breakup, admitting the though of it 'terrified' her. However, at the end of 2023, Christine was linked to former footballer, Chelcee Grimes, after they were pictured passionately kissing. Yet, despite their fondness for each other after meeting on ITV's The Games, the reality stars are reportedly no longer friends following an 'explosive row' over the 'nature' of their relationship. Chelcee, who has also previously romanced former Love Island star Megan Barton Hanson, grew close to Christine following the TV star's split from husband Paddy. The pair met on The Games in 2022 and grew close the following year, culminating with a kiss while on holiday in Ibiza. Sources close to the pair said Chelcee was there for Christine following her divorce from Paddy, which the Scouser described as one of the worst times in her life. However, their close friendship reportedly ended, with the pair unfollowing each other on Instagram. Christine then went onto appear on the upcoming series of Celebs Go Dating, which she filmed for two weeks before quitting, saying she wasn't ready to date publicly. The star, who was diagnosed with autism two years ago, spoke out about her sexuality for the first time last month, revealing she has dated both sexes since she was a teen. Speaking on the How To Fail podcast, Christine opened up about how she was dating women, including one two-year 'situationship', before she met Paddy, and admits she wants a connection for herself and not a step-parent for her children. She said: 'I'm at the point where I think I've got a nice balance of going, 'Yeah I date women and so what? What's the big deal?' 'But also knowing I don't have to go into big, massive detail about it either. 'A lot of people ask me, 'Are you a lesbian? Are you bisexual? Is this a phase?'. 'I've always been quite a free spirit. I think that's the only word I would put on it. 'When I was a teenager, I'd dated boys and girls. I never felt it was anything different or a big deal.'

Rachel Riley's life including first marriage, Strictly romance and TV feud
Rachel Riley has been a recognisable TV personality for over 10 years and she's about to take on her biggest challenge on ITV's Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters Rachel Riley is an English TV presenter, who is best known for co-hosting Channel 4's daytime puzzle show, Countdown. The mathematics graduate also appears on the show's popular comedy spin-off, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Rachel, who was born in Rochford and raised in Southend-on-Sea, first joined Countdown at the age of 22 following encouragement from her mum in 2008. Her interest in maths and science has also led her to appear on The Gadget Show on Channel 5, ITV's It's Not Rocket Science and Sky Sports ' Friday Night Football. Now, let's take a look at Rachel's life away from the popular Channel 4 gameshow as she joins the cast of Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters on ITV1. Who was Rachel Riley first married to? Rachel married millionaire businessman Jamie Gilbert in 2012. The pair met while they were both studying at the University of Oxford. They briefly called time on their relationship in 2009, before rekindling their romance in 2011 and settling down in Essex. Rachel and Jamie separated after 16 months, with the couple announcing their divorce while Rachel was competing in the 2013 season of Strictly Come Dancing. Rachel later explained that her various TV commitments ended up taking a toll on their short marriage. "At that time, I was doing Countdown and The Gadget Show, so I was living in Essex, I was filming in Birmingham and in Salford, and then filming Strictly in Borehamwood, with a bit of It Takes Two in London," she told GQ at the time. "I was getting three hours' sleep a night, trying to fit in all these things... All you want to do at that time is the dancing because you know you've got to do this thing in a few days." The Countdown star went on to explain that Rachel was "still friends" with her ex-husband, adding: "It was the emotional distance that I needed to break away." Who was Rachel Riley's Strictly romance with? Rachel found love again with professional dancer Pasha Kovalev, who she was partnered with during her time on Strictly Come Dancing. The couple got together in 2014, and surprised friends and family with a whirlwind Las Vegas wedding in 2019. "So, we were never bothered about getting married, but then we just were like 'shall we just get married' once were were having the baby," Rachel previously told the Express. "And actually, we had such a nice day. It was really lovely. But we only decided the week before." Rachel and Pasha have since welcomed their two daughters, five-year-old Maven and three-year-old Noa, and often keep fans up to date with their lives via social media. Who did Rachel Riley have a TV feud with? Rachel has been rumoured to be in a feud with her former Countdown co-star Anne Robinson. The Weakest Link star previously revealed that she had quit Countdown over a pay dispute, and insisted on Rachel and Susie Dent's microphones being switched off. Rachel then ignited feud rumours when she confessed that Anne "might make you cry", and that the show's atmosphere became more fun after Anne had left. Anne has since denied a fall out between the pair. In May, she told The Telegraph: "It's just a story. Rachel was a bit talkative when I was interviewing the contestants but once we shut her up it was fine." Rachel quickly responded to Anne's comment, telling The Sun: "If Anne needs to mention me for publicity, then good luck to her. I have the same opinion of her as most people do." She added: "I don't pay any attention to what she says." Countdown is available to stream on Channel 4 and Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters kicks off on ITV1 and ITVX on Monday, July 14 at 9pm
