Two men nabbed in Ipoh with drugs
Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the two men, aged 35 and 37, were believed to have been involved in distributing drugs like heroin and syabu.
ACP Dr Bakri said the arrests were made during an operation at the house, rented by one of the suspects, on Monday (May 19) at about noon.
"During the operation, the police also seized 104.17g of heroin, 8g of syabu and 42g of MDMA (ecstasy).
"Both suspects confessed to being involved in drug activities since their early 20s," he said in a statement.
"The first suspect tested positive for morphine, while the second suspect tested positive for methamphetamine.
"Both men also have a total of nine previous drug cases," he added.
ACP Dr Bakri said the drugs seized could be used by 308 people.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 39B, Section 39A(1), Section 12(2) and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
"Those found guilty could face the death sentence or lifetime imprisonment and be whipped at least 12 times," he said.
"The police would like to remind the people not to be involved with drug distribution or abuse," he added.

Johor cops call on the public to help find missing six-year-old
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a six-year-old boy who has been reported missing in Taman Bukit Indah near here. Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the police received a report on the child's disappearance at about 2.15am on Thursday (July 24). 'The report was lodged by the boy's father, a 36-year-old local man, who claimed that his son went missing near a kopitiam at Taman Bukit Indah. 'The missing child has been identified as M. Tishant, a Malaysian male aged six. He was last seen at the Tiong Nam kopitiam in Taman Bukit Indah,' he said in a statement here on Saturday (July 26). ACP Kumarasan added that Tishant is described as having a dark complexion, with a sharp nose, standing about 110cm tall and weighing around 19kg. He urged members of the public with any information on the child's whereabouts to contact the investigating officer, Insp E. Komaty at 010-381 2804. ACP Kumarasan said those with information may also reach out to the Iskandar Puteri district police control centre at 07-511 3622 or its hotline number at 07-511 4486. 'Our top priority is to locate the child and ensure his safety. We appreciate any assistance from the public to help reunite him with his family,' he added.

Man charged with trafficking 57.8gm syabu

Kota Kinabalu: A 40-year-old was tentatively charged at the Magistrate's Court here with trafficking 57.82gm of syabu. No plea was recorded from Ag Rizwan Lasikan when the charge was read before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin. Rizwan is accused of committing the offence at 2.50pm on July 12 by the roadside of Puri Warisan, Inanam. The charge, framed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952, carries the mandatory death penalty or life imprisonment, along with a minimum of 15 strokes of the cane, upon conviction. The court set Sept 18 for mention, pending the chemist's report. Rizwan was ordered to remain in custody as the offence is non-bailable. In another case, a 48-year-old man was jailed six weeks and fined RM100 or one week's jail for failing to provide a reasonable explanation for having a stolen laptop. Rudy Wong pleaded guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to being found in possession of a laptop, for which he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation of how he obtained it, at 3.15pm on July 18 at the car park of Block A, Lido Four Seasons, Jalan Lintas Kepayan. Wong was charged under Section 22A(1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance (Chapter 80) of Sabah. The court heard from the prosecution that the complainant discovered her home had been broken into on July 12, with her belongings, including a laptop, missing. Wong was arrested on July 18 at the car park of Block A of the residency for the offence. Unrepresented, Wong pleaded for leniency and apologised to the court, saying he had an ageing mother to care for. The prosecution, however, urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence and also informed that the estimated loss suffered by the complainant was RM1,000. Five injured in multi-vehicle crash in Penang
Five people were severely injured, and one escaped with minor injuries after a multi-vehicle crash along Jalan Perak, ending on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway towards Batu Uban, on Friday (July 25). George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the George Town police received information about an accident involving a sports utility vehicle (SUV), two cars, and two motorcycles. "Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred on Friday (July 25) at about 8.30 p.m. when the SUV driver, upon reaching the traffic light junction at Jalan Perak, collided with the rear of a Perodua Myvi," he said. The SUV driver then continued driving and collided with two motorcycles along Jalan Perak. Subsequently, the SUV proceeded towards the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, heading towards Batu Maung, and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. As a result, the drivers of the SUV and cars, along with the motorcyclists and pillion riders aged between 15 and 56, sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Penang Hospital. The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
