Colts' Shane Steichen evaluates Tyler Warren's first week of training camp practices
"It's been solid. Really solid," Steichen said after Saturday's practice. "I said this when we drafted him too, I think he's just got a great feel for the game. A really good feel, great hands, understands football.
"I think he's going to make a good impact for us this year. But we're working day by day to get better there, with him and everybody. It's been good though."
After what was referred to as a relatively quiet first day, Warren has quickly been a key figure in the Colts' passing game over the last few practices.
His reliability as a pass-catcher, hauling in tight window throws or off-target passes, has been on display, and was one of the many aspects of his game that drew the Colts to him during the pre-draft process.
Warren's hands, coupled with his size and athleticism, makes him, in particular, a real threat over the middle of the field on those short to intermediate routes, where he is a difficult matchup.
However, while Warren's impact on the passing game is already on display, his true impact on the overall offense won't be recognized until the pads come on.
Along with his pass-catching abilities, Warren is versatile, able to line up across the formation, and is a very capable blocker. That do-it-all presence at tight end adds some unpredictability to an offense, with him able to fill a variety of roles.
"We haven't even seen him in pads, which I think is going to be a real strength of his," offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said. "When he gets to play football in pads, the extra elements of his game are going to come alive."

It appears that they are going to make a push for a second consecutive playoff appearance. The Royals acquired outfielder Randal Grichuk from the Diamondbacks for reliever Andrew Hoffmann late Saturday, shoring up a weakness in the lineup by adding a right-handed bat. Now, they have indicated that Lugo remains big a part of their future with his extension — an especially timely one given it came the same day that All-Star pitcher Kris Bubic went on the injured list. Kansas City also is missing starters Cole Ragans and Michael Lorenzen due to injuries. Both are expected back at some point in August, and the Royals are hopeful that their return to the rotation will propel them down the stretch run. 100 NFL Players Busted For Selling Super Bowl LIX Tickets, Social Media Snitches

More than a hundred are set to be fined and/or lose their allocation for the next two Super Bowls after league sources revealed they sold their tickets for more than face value. 'Our initial investigation has determined that a number of NFL players and coaches, employed by several NFL Clubs, sold Super Bowl tickets for more than the ticket's face value in violation of the policy,' NFL chief compliance officer Sabrina Perel said in a memo sent out to all 32 NFL teams. The 100 players represent a little over 6% of the entire NFL player rosters. But per an ESPN report, there are team employees, including coaches, who are among the number who sold their tickets. 'This long-standing League Policy, which is specifically incorporated into the Collective Bargaining Agreement, prohibits League or Club employees, including players, from selling NFL game tickets acquired from their employer for more than the ticket's face value or for an amount greater than the employee originally paid for the ticket, whichever is less,' the memo continued. Players and team personnel sold the tickets to 'bundlers' who were working with resellers, per the memo. Penalties will increase for anyone deemed to be working with the bundlers to help facilitate sales. Fines would be one and a half times what the player or employee sold the ticket for, and they would lose the chance to acquire them for the next two Super Bowls. There could also be suspensions involved. Some of the players involved have already elected to pay the fines. Those who lose their allotment would only be able to purchase tickets if they are playing in the Super Bowl. The league would not release names of players, coaches or team personnel who were part of the crackdown. Tickets for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, which resulted in a 40-22 win for the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, ranged in cost from $2,588 to nearly $3,500 for the cheapest seats. Paul Skenes dominant again, striking out 9 in 6 innings as Pirates blank D-backs 6-0
PITTSBURGH — Paul Skenes struck out nine and gave up three hits in six innings, Oneil Cruz and Ke'Bryan Hayes drove in two runs each, and the Pittsburgh Pirates shut out the Arizona Diamondbacks for the second straight game, 6-0 on Sunday. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Skenes (6-8) is the first pitcher to have an ERA below 2 through his first 45 starts. The reigning NL Rookie of the Year sits at 1.89 for his career and 1.83 this year, which leads the majors. Skenes is the only starter this season who hasn't allowed a first-inning run. He struck out two in the first, including Geraldo Perdomo, who hadn't fanned in a league-best 39 straight at-bats.
