Scottish Open not just about golf as KT Tunstall and Irvine Welsh star in Fringe by the Tee
Music star KT Tunstall and Irvine Welsh are set to ensure it's not all about just golf at the Genesis Scottish Open.
Tournament organisers are ensuring a huge week off-course as well as on it with a raft of experiences planned for the four days in East Lothian.
In the Fan Zone, the highlight will be the return of Fringe by the Tee, a collaboration with the local Fringe by the Sea festival.
Tunstall, the Grammy-nominated, Brit Award-winning artist, is playing a set on Saturday night just 24 hours after author-turned DJ Welsh cranks up the tunes.
As well as music, the Fringe by the Tee pop-up stage will offer something for everyone, including comedian Fred MacAulay, who will host daily entertainment daily slots.
Families can catch the always-popular Alexander the Great, an award-winning entertainer delivering circus skills, party games, disco dancing, and plenty of magic for the kids.
Other highlights of the Fan Zone include Mini Golf and Long Putt experiences, raising money for The Renaissance Club Foundation, while fans can also buy a limited edition tartan range from J.Lindeberg, worn by ambassadors such as Viktor Hovland and Mathieu Pavon, and gain access to the J.L Clubhouse hospitality facility on the Sixth Hole by spending £100 or more in the Merchandise Store.
Fringe By The Tee Festival Director Rory Steel explained: 'We run Fringe By The Sea in North Berwick in August just down the road from where the golf takes place and, a couple of years back, we were asked to come down and have a look and it was an absolutely amazing opportunity to really help with the growth of what is an amazing event.
'We went away and had a good long think about who it is that are coming to the golf and how we can expand it beyond the core enthusiast, especially to the families who might not have a fleeting interest in the game itself.
'There are so many great things. Whether it is the Stephen Gallacher Foundation for ace pro tips, to the crazy golf course raising funds for Leuchie House, to the main stage where we can bring to life the fan zone with bands, DJs, comedy, kids shows and a whole golf bag full of fun.
'It's not just what is happening on the course, the track or the field at major sporting occasions now, it's what happens off the field, too. People are spending a not-insignificant sum to come along and, yes, the sport is the key to it all, but so is making sure there is something for everyone.
' Irvine Welsh doing a DJ set will be ace for Friday night's crowd followed by KT Tunstall for Saturday and having Scottish legends like that at the Genesis Scottish Open is all part of the appeal. They buy into it, too. They are invested and it shows how the event has grown in popularity and is going from strength to strength on and off the course.'

Alex Dowal, of the Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland, warned most social media operators are struggling to take down fake profiles. He said: 'It's not actually a crime to set up a profile in someone's name. 'It goes against the terms and conditions of Facebook and Instagram. Unfortunately, the scale of policing that is virtually non-existent. 'It becomes a crime if you are seeking to benefit from pretending to be someone else. 'It probably wouldn't take long before some fake endorsements using his profile come out. That would consitute fraud.' We told how the cast were revealed by Warner Bros last month with film bosses pledging a 'faithful adaptation' of the books by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling. Earlier this week, the writer said she had read the first two episodes, adding: 'They are so, so, so good.' A spokeswoman for Warner Bros Discovery said: 'We won't be commenting at this time.'

St Paul's Cathedral strict eligibility rules for couples as Mel B ties the knot
Spice Girl Mel B and new husband Rory McPhee tied the knot in style earlier today, with the happy couple exchanging vows at St Paul's Cathedral Mel B has married for the third time. The Spice Girls star – who was previously married to Jimmy Gulzar between 1998 and 2000 and Stephen Belafonte from 2007 to 2016 – tied the knot with Rory McPhee at St. Paul's Cathedral in London on Saturday. Mel, 50, wore a traditional white gown, adorned with pearls for the wedding, while her new husband Rory, 37, wore a traditional Scottish tartan kilt. The happy couple posed for pictures on the steps of the historic venue and shared a kiss. The happy couple tied the knot at St Paul's Cathedral - usually a very exclusive venue when it comes to weddings. Around 30 couples marry inside the iconic building but as St Paul's is not a parish church, there are conditions on who can be married there. Chaka Khan pays tribute to ‘amazing' Quincy Jones at Montreux Jazz Festival
The 72-year-old, best known for her hit song I'm Every Woman, opened the 59th edition of the Swiss music festival on the Lake Stage on Friday with a homage to the 28-time Grammy winner who died last year aged 91. The tribute, titled To Q With Love, saw Khan joined by special guests who worked with Jones, including Grammy-winning singer Siedah Garrett who helped co-write Michael Jackson's Man In The Mirror, and was a frequent collaborator with the late producer in the 1980s and 1990s. Khan said: 'This here tonight is a tribute to one of the most amazing men on the planet and in music. 'As a father, a grandfather, an uncle, he was many things to me, and I know in your heart of hearts, where your music part lives, that he's part of it. 'So, we're gonna' do a little tribute – no a big tribute actually – to Quincy Jones.' The singer had also appeared on the Montreux stage as part of a 2008 tribute to Jones for his 75th birthday. She opened on Friday with some of her classic singles including This Is My Night and Everlasting Love before performing renditions of songs produced by Jones, including Give Me The Night, You Put A Move On My Heart and Rock with You. Before performing Man In The Mirror, Garrett said: 'This song changed my life. This song has opened so many doors, has allowed me to be on this stage tonight honouring the late, great, Quincy Delight Jones. '(Quincy) was looking for one more song to round up the Bad album, so Glen (Ballard) and I wrote this song and Michael loved it and recorded it.' Singer-songwriter Lalah Hathaway also took to the stage with American singer Rahsaan Patterson and British star Mica Paris. Jones was one of the few people to have earned non-competitive Egot status as the winner of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award but with one an honorary or non-competitive recognition.
