Steelers countdown to kickoff — No. 57: a history of the number and who wore it best
Current Steelers No. 57 wearer: N/A
There is no current wearer of No. 57 on the 2025 Steelers roster.
Last five Steelers to wear No. 57:
Best No. 57 in Steelers history: G Sam Davis
G Sam Davis is the best Steeler to ever wear No. 57. Davis signed with the Steelers after he went undrafted in the 1967 NFL Draft, appearing in 168 games and making 114 starts from 1967 to 1979. He was a key part of the offensive line that helped bring four Super Bowl championships to the Steel City — kickstarting the Steelers dynasty as we know it today. Davis was later named to the Pittsburgh Steelers 50th Anniversary Team and was inducted into the Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Honor, firmly securing his place as the greatest Steeler to ever wear No. 57.
Honorable mention: LB Mike Merriweather, a three-time Steelers Pro Bowler from 1982 to 1987.

Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo Share Heart-Warming Family News
Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo Share Heart-Warming Family News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has a new reason to be motivated to perform this season - it will be his first season as a father. Advertisement McCaffrey and his wife Olivia Culpo shared photos of their newborn daughter on Sunday, welcoming Colette Annalise McCaffrey to the world. The star ball-carrier and former Miss USA winner announced they were having a baby via Culpo's Instagram on March 10 with a series of photos from a pregnancy shoot. Colette's arrival comes just over a year since her parents married on June 29, 2024 during the offseason after "CMC" helped lead his 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in February of last year. This special time for McCaffrey and his family leads up to what is sure to be a season driven by focus and determination for the 49ers. Advertisement Last season after their Super Bowl berth, San Francisco was ravaged by injuries and played below their standards, leading to a 6-11 season in which they missed the playoffs entirely. McCaffrey, in particular, missed 13 of the team's 17 games with Achilles and knee troubles. The former All-Pro running back has vowed that he is fully healthy this offseason and ready to rebound from a disappointing season. When fully available, the Niners have enough firepower to contend not just in the NFC West but the conference as a whole. A motivated McCaffrey is a huge factor in that. And the new father now has a little bundle of joy to play for as he enters his ninth season in the NFL. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 14, 2025, where it first appeared.

Chiefs Inexplicably Left Off Super Bowl Contender List For 2025
Chiefs Inexplicably Left Off Super Bowl Contender List For 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Apparently, it is easy to forget that just one game of football ago, the Kansas City Chiefs were being talked about as possibly one of the greatest teams ever in football, as they were chasing a third straight Super Bowl win. Advertisement But the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles has seen many fans and media alike jump off the Chiefs bandwagon ahead of the 2025 season. Some have a regression from the 15-2 record, which is low-hanging fruit because achieving that in back-to-back years is a tough feat. The offensive line issues, coupled with the narrative that Patrick Mahomes has "peaked," all contribute to the belief that the Chiefs are done. And now we have Fox Sports' Jason McIntyre, who went listing teams who can win the Super Bowl on The Herd, he only came up with six, and two from the AFC, in the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens. But the Chiefs weren't mentioned. Advertisement Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15).Denny Medley-Imagn Images It is easy to forget that Mahomes has beaten both the Bills and Ravens in the playoffs in the last two seasons, so there's that. However, it appears that the Chiefs' dominant aura has been tarnished by the Super Bowl loss, coupled with the roster weaknesses that many believe will be the catalyst for a poor 2025 season. However surely the Chiefs are at least in the conversation to be Super Bowl winners, right? Having won the AFC for three straight seasons, won two Super Bowls, and been to a third in that time frame, we think the defending conference champs deserve at the very least to be mentioned.
