Amazon reduces 'exceptional' £200 smart to £40 in early Prime Day deal

Daily Recorda day ago
Amazon Prime Day 2025 is just around the corner - but there are deals already available for Prime members
Amazon has reduced an 'impressive' smart watch shoppers say has an "exceptional battery life." The retailer has dropped prices on a range of products ahead of Prime Day 2025, which runs from July 8 to 11.
The online retailer has discounted the Soudorv Smart Watch, dropping the price from £199.99 to £39.99 for Prime members. The watch features Bluetooth call, 24/7 heart rate and sleep monitor, smart notifications and activity trackers.
It also has a pedometer function, more than 130 sport modes, an alarm clock, stopwatch and timer. There's also music and camera control functions, weather forecast and a sedentary reminder.
The watch has a 1.43'' AMOLED display, which the Amazon description says offers "vibrant visuals with enhanced resolution." The product links to the FitCloudPro app, with more than 250 dial styles to choose from, or shoppers can customise their screens with their own photos.
Alternatively, Selfridges offers the Samsung Galaxy Fit3 smart watch for £59, while Curry's has the FITBIT Versa 4 Smart Watch - Waterfall Blue & Platinum for £179. H. Samuel also stocks the Reflex Active Series 42 Amoled Ultra Slim for £65.
The Soudorv Smart Watch has racked up rave reviews online, with a rating of 4.8 stars. Among them, one person said: "The built quality of this smart watch is quite exceptional. I love the large screen, which is not only bright, but also very smooth and has fast response.
"The connection was easy and straightforward. So far, the data is accurate especially the steps counter. The battery life is commendable. On fully charged, it can go for 8 days on moderate usage. Overall, it's a great watch for the price."
A second wrote: "For the price, this smartwatch is actually pretty impressive. It connects easily to both Android and iPhone, and I love that I can make and answer calls right from my wrist—super convenient when my phone's buried in my bag.
"It tracks steps, workouts, and sleep well enough for everyday use, and the screen is a nice size: not too big, not too small. It's not a high-end smartwatch, but if you're looking for something affordable that covers the basics and looks good doing it, this is a solid pick."
However, they did add that they'd had an issue with the watch. They wrote: "I have one issue with it, when away from my phone for more that 10 minutes it doesn't automatically reconnect, annoying, but I can live with it, hopefully the developer will fix that with a firmware update."
Another disappointed shopper said "Not a bad watch for its price 40$, it's a pity there is no always on display and in rare cases the screen may not light up when you raise your hand somewhere 1 out of 15 times.
"There is also a camera icon here, but when you press it, nothing happens except vibration. Maybe it will work with some Android, but it doesn't work on an iPhone. It's perfect for a gift."
Despite this, many shoppers continued to praise the watch. One person said:
"I like this watch as it looks more like a normal watch, but has all the features of a smart watch. Battery life is the most exceptional thing about it, I wore it 24 hours a day and the battery lasted FIFTEEN DAYS.
"I also like that there is a second configurable button on the side, two different options can be set for short or long press. The smart options cover everything you need, and lots I don't need."
Another added: "Received this on April 30th, it's now May 6th and the battery is on 82%. I can't believe how long it has lasted! The watch looks good and has so many features - I particularly like the option to make my phone ring when I can't find it.
"There are many different sport activities to track and the sleep tracker is really useful. I also like the cool choice of faces that come preinstalled. By far the best smart watch I have owned. I would seriously pay 3 times the listed price for this item, it really is that good."

Tech review: Gaming specialist unleashes OXS Storm wireless headphones

The gaming headphones industry is a fairly cluttered one, and also a very competitive one. Littered with big names and big players like Turtle Beach and Logitech - it's an established market and it's big business as gaming continues to accelerate. Online gaming particularly continues to be a huge leisure activity, and any gamer worth their salt knows the importance of a good pair of headphones. With that in mind, I tried out the Storm A2 headphones, the latest product from gaming audio experts, OXS. I have an OXS soundbar so I am well aware of their dedication to targeting gamers with high-end products. The headphones look premium and have a decent build quality with metal around the cups and the headband. The ear cups themselves have memory foam lining, and the headband also has this on the underside, for comfort. The quality is decent and for what is essentially a middle of the road kind of price for a decent pair of gaming headphones, there certainly can't be too many complaints in terms of the build. As with many headphones these days this pair fold away for storage and for travelling and can be reasonably compact in a carry case if needed. They are pretty comfortable to wear, although I did test these out on the hottest couple of days of the year and it was a bit clammy because the ear pads to stick a bit. I expect on a cooler day i'd be a lot happier! From a sound perspective, I thought these were up to the task in hand, switching modes gives you an extra bass boost and the Active Noise Cancellation, I have to say I found to be pretty effective. The bass boost adds a bit of oomph to the sound and I'd suggest that using it is the best option, unless treble really is your thing. I felt that with the bass kicked in, the headphones really enveloped your senses and got me hooked into what I was playing. There's a lot of great bullet points to deliver, like a 70 hour battery life, super low latency to avoid lagging, and all the wireless connection options you could need. It connects to all devices and consoles, other than Xbox. You can even connect to a mobile phone, should you so wish. The rich, deep sounds of the headphones through the surround sound are perfect for gamers, allowing you to hear every noise and direction the game throws at you. I had no issues with the mic, other than that it's very much pointed straight down like an arrow, so you need to train it to stay in place, which works after a while. I liked the sound, and for what I need I was really impressed. It isn't the best sound I have heard, I have better general headphones. But for the price, I think they offer a decent degree of quality and satisfaction.. OXS Storm A2 Wireless Gaming Headset is available for £129.99 from Amazon. Customer reviews Amazon user: Ear cups are comfortable but after about an hour long online meeting, my left lobe felt sore. The cups are not big enough for my whole ear so they pretty much sit on top of my ears, which, for me, can be uncomfortable after a couple of hours. Amazon user: It's about turning on surround mode. Just because it's turned on doesn't mean the sound field expands impressively, but it is said that when you turn it on, the sound comes forward, and anyway, it's such a good sound that I recommend turning it on all the time. The treble isn't bad either, but the volume is to such an extent that the midrange is particularly beautiful and not too loud.

One thing Amazon Prime Day shoppers must do to get the best deals

Amazon Prime Day is set to commence next week, but there's one thing shoppers need to do before the global shopping event kicks off on July 8. The sales bonanza will see thousands of products discounted until the event concludes on July 11, however these deals are exclusively for Amazon Prime Members. This includes those with Amazon Prime monthly, annual and free trial memberships, Prime for Students, and Amazon Family. Shoppers who aren't yet Prime members can sign up for a free 30-day Prime Trial here to ensure they can participate in the four-day sale. Customers who aren't Prime members can still purchase Amazon products throughout next week, but they'll have to pay the standard retail prices. Prime Video members must upgrade to a full Prime membership before they can take advantage of the deals. As reported by the Mirror, Prime members not only get exclusive deals during Prime week, but they can also bag great discounts all year round. Members can also enjoy free next day delivery on a variety of products, plus they have access to Prime Video and Music. Shoppers with a Prime membership can also set up app notifications to ensure they don't miss out on deals on products they have recently searched for. Members can also set up a Wish List containing their must-have items, and if they go on sale, they will be the first to know. That's not all, as Amazon's AI shopping assistant, Rufus, is on hand to help. This handy bot helps members shop smarter and plan better by providing product details, expert advice, and personalised suggestions. Amazon isn't the only retailer currently offering deals via a sale, with Debenhams' blue cross sale offering up to 75% off on garden, home and fashion items. Dunelm is offering a massive clearance sale that includes discounts on bedding, curtains, and various homeware items, plus some garden furniture. Although this year's summer Prime Day sale is yet to kick off, there are already some fantastic offers available. Amidst the recent UK heatwaves, consumers may find relief with the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo Portable Fan now available for £99, down from £129.99. This gadget features an airflow range of 20 metres and can be used indoors or outdoors in several colour options. An Amazon customer praised the fan, saying: "Lightweight, powerful, the misting function works better than expected. Sleep easily with it on speed setting three - quiet running. Like that it's handheld and runs on a battery. Well worth the money." However, they also expressed disappointment: "Only disappointment was the fact I paid £129.99 and then the next day Amazon reduced the price to £99.99. I was tempted to send this one back and reorder it to save £30." Another impressive discount on Amazon is the £100 off the Samsung Galaxy S10 FE Android Tablet, now priced at £399, which boasts a 10.9-inch display, 128GB storage, 8GB memory, and includes an S Pen. One buyer was disappointed with the preinstalled software on their new tablet, remarking: "I really don't like a lot of the software already installed on it." Yet another purchaser is overjoyed with their gadget, sharing: "It's fast and the screen is very clear. I'm a huge fan of Samsung products and I am thrilled with this tablet." The Tefal Easy Fry Dual Zone Digital Air Fryer is the latest item Amazon has slashed in price. For a brief period, savvy shoppers can get their hands on the 8.3L air fryer for £99.99, down from the standard £179.99. This kitchen gadget offers multiple settings such as roast, bake, and dehydrate. Users have the flexibility to operate both the large and small baskets simultaneously or separately. However, one consumer was not pleased with the air fryer's 'very loud beeping' and thought it was 'not user friendly', contrasting with a delighted buyer who left a five-star review and stated: "Incredible value for money compared to alternatives. "Very even cooking, high heat, great crispiness and extremely convenient. The two different drawer sizes are great and add up to a considerable amount. The sync and flip reminder features are great too." For all of today's hot deals on Amazon, click here. Not a Prime member yet? Sign up for a free 30-day trial here and enjoy bagging a bargain from July 8 to 11.
