Call The Midwife star unveils 'deep rooted fear' that left her in tears
Helen George admitted that swimming with sharks left her in floods of tears as she's revealed her aquaphobia.

As Trixie in Call The Midwife, Helen George is used to high-stakes drama - but diving with sharks was next-level. 'I am quite scared of swimming,' she says.
'I have a real deep rooted fear of putting my head under water, and hadn't realised how bad it was until it was day one and we were doing scuba training.'
Things didn't ease up. 'I then found out our challenge was a cage dive with Bull sharks. I cried some more.' Luckily, Helen was able to rely on her co-stars for some levity throughout the process.
"There were so many moments because it's such a funny group of people. There was a challenge that we had to do when we were sent out at sea and told that we had to hold onto this raft.
It was really treacherous weather that day, really stormy and the sea was really rough and choppy. Ross Noble managed to sneak out a bag of snacks strapped to his leg with gaffer tape.'
Freewheeling comic Ross brought his trademark chaos to the depths, though he found himself mesmerised by sharks. 'I was in a hypnotic state,' he says. 'You're in the water and these things are moving around, your brain can't comprehend it. I was so taken with how incredible it was.'
Sir Lenny Henry, on the other hand, entered the programme while he was still on the mend after an injury. "I had a dodgy knee when I arrived, and my experience in the water and the exercise just made it go away. It was amazing," he says.
"I would just get in the water and I'm not the best of swimmers, but I really worked hard on it and it paid off. I think it means, don't give up, don't mind about how old you are, just get in there and have a go."

'He is already back home and doing well.' Meanwhile, his friend and personal assistant Steve Foster – who found him on Friday – has been visiting Gazza every day and told The Sun: 'Paul is stable now but is still very poorly. 'But it shows how popular and loved he still is by fans everywhere. I can't walk down the street with him without him being stopped – it's crazy.' Gazza has battled with alcoholism and addiction throughout his life, but has been in better shape recently. "He has told friends that he is fine and was going to give an update later today," a source close to the star told The Mirror earlier on Monday. "He has been doing well recently so this was an unexpected setback. 'He had a full three months without alcohol over the summer while he was doing various speaking engagements and looked really well." Gazza won 57 caps for England and played for Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Everton during a distinguished career. But his struggles off the pitch have sadly taken over his life in recent years. Speaking on the High Performance podcast in March 2024, he said: 'I used to be a happy drunk, I ain't any more … I'm a sad drunk. I don't go out and drink, I drink indoors. If I want to make it a bad day, [all I need to do is] go down the pub. If I want it to be a good day, I get my flying rod out and go fishing. 'It's not the drinking, it's the afterwards. Looking at my phone after and seeing 30 messages or missed calls, I know I'm in trouble. But I've been all right. Last year wasn't brilliant, was off and on for a couple of months.' Gascoigne added: 'I try not to get down because the world 's already down enough and when I'm really down, that's when I pick up a drink to cheer myself up. I don't think I let any managers down, or the players or the fans, you know. If there was anyone I let down, it was myself. But more the drinking side of it, when I finished playing.'

Pregnant Katherine Ryan 'dejected' at the thought of her baby being a boy
Pregnant comedian Katherine Ryan isn't exactly thrilled about the prospect of having a baby boy. The Canadian star, 42, is currently expecting her fourth child. She is already a proud mum of 16-year-old Violet and her children with Bobby Kootstra: son Fred, four, and daughter Fenna, two. However, she'd seemingly much prefer adding another girl to her brood, having already confirmed that baby number four will be her last. In an appearance on Heart Radio's breakfast show this morning, she confessed to hosts Jamie Theakston and Zoe Hardman that she's been 'antagonised' by men throughout her life. She also joked about youngest Fred being a 'toxic male'. Katherine, who confirmed her pregnancy last month, began: 'I have to say that I can't ever complain post-first trimester. 'I'm quite big, so I think it might be a boy, so I'm feeling dejected about that, because men have just antagonised me all my life, even before they're born.' After welcoming her kids thus far in the order of 'girl, boy, girl,' Katherine said she never finds out her baby's sex beforehand. 'It's always a surprise, and I love that. It's vintage', she stated. The Duchess star then declared that she will inevitably suffer 'gender disappointment' if her little one arrives as a boy. 'I will have it (gender disappointment) this time if it's a boy. You know what it is, my son is a toxic male; he's four years old, and he always wants to fight me,' she shared. Katherine recalled: 'I drove him to nursery the other day; he sat behind me, and he had a sword held to my throat for a while. 'Like, who's giving you weapons?' 'I didn't grow up with brothers, so it's been an adjustment for me,' she admitted. "But if he sides with Moira as a half-Dingle, half-Tate – which he will do, as he'll do anything to go against Kim – then that could be dangerous and there will be gang warfare. Kim also keeps going on about legacy and I keep saying to Laura Shaw, the show's producer: 'Is she dying?' Let's hope not!" With the new romance, Kim has only just lost her husband Will Taylor - played by Dean Andrews. Speaking about her new romance with Eddie, she added: "I don't think Kim was particularly ready to move on – it's only been six months since Will died, but it just so happens that she met this chap at York races. He told her that he was a cosmetic surgeon. "He's very handsome, charming, charismatic and he won't let her pay for anything, which makes a change for Kim! "She's thinking this could be a relationship in the future. They've met up for a coffee a few times, although Kim was worried about telling Dawn about it and that made her doubt herself. The minute Kim finds out, it'll be more than his back he needs to watch out for! I mean that." Claire also warned that there would be a nasty twist ahead. She said: "He's very bad and very nasty and he will go to any lengths to get Kim's money – and he kind of does. But there's always a twist."
