Pakistani man charged with sodomy, sexual assault, robbery
PETALING JAYA : A Pakistani man pleaded not guilty in the Shah Alam sessions court today to several charges, including sodomy, sexual assault and robbery involving teenage and child victims.
Muhammad Hassan, 24, made his plea after the charges were read to him in Urdu before judge Norazlin Othman, Berita Harian reported.
Muhammad is accused of committing unnatural sexual intercourse with two male teenagers, aged 19 and 15, without their consent.
The offences were allegedly committed on April 18 and June 26 in a forested area and a hall in Section 27, Shah Alam, at 1.30pm and 10.05pm, respectively.
He was charged on two counts under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of five to 20 years and whipping, if convicted.
Muhammad was also charged with robbing the 19-year-old teenager of RM230 in cash, as well as threatening to injure the victim when he tried to escape.
The offence falls under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison with the possibility of a fine or whipping upon conviction.
He was further charged with sexually assaulting two boys, aged eight and 13, at a playground in Section 28 and a wooded area near a school in Section 27 sometime between May 27 and late June.
He faces a charge under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a maximum 20-year jail term and whipping, if found guilty.
The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutors Nurul Sofea Jaysal and Ruthra Raj Selvarajoo. The accused was unrepresented.
Muhammad appealed to the court to appoint a lawyer for him, as he did not have any acquaintance or family in the country.
The court set Sept 23 for the next case mention.

In a statement on Facebook on July 30, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said it foiled the smuggling attempt made via a Malaysia-registered lorry. The lorry was carrying cargo declared as precast products. Based on information received by ICA's Integrated Targeting Centre (ITC), ICA officers directed the vehicle for enhanced checks. The vapes and related components were found hidden inside the lidded compartment of a flat plate, which was on top of the trailer chassis. A chassis is an undercarriage structure that supports a vehicle's other components, such as the engine and wheels. The case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigation. The ITC is a new unit under ICA that uses data analytics to identify high-risk foreigners before their arrival. These foreigners are flagged for more stringent checks at immigration. A total of 33,100 foreigners were denied entry in 2024 after being found to pose immigration or security risks to the nation, according to figures released in February. From January 2024 to March 2025, HSA seized $41 million worth of vapes – nearly fivefold the reported value of vapes seized from 2019 to end-2023, according to numbers compiled by The Straits Times. The Ministry of Health and Ministry of Home Affairs said in a joint statement on July 12 that they are looking at enhancing laws around vaping. Insurance agent in Melaka charged with stalking, defaming ex-wife

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : An insurance agent pleaded not guilty in two separate courts in Melaka today to five charges involving offensive communication, criminal intimidation and defamation against his former wife last month. At the Ayer Keroh sessions court, Akmal Helmi Mat Sirat, 35, was accused of three counts of knowingly posting offensive content on Facebook intended to annoy and harass Masura Mustafa, 40, on June 30, July 3 and July 4 at Taman Bukit Piatu Mutiara, Bernama reported. He was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which provides for a maximum fine of RM50,000, a jail term of up to one year, or both, upon conviction. At the magistrates' court, Akmal was charged with two counts of repeatedly following and intimidating the victim at Putra Melaka Hospital and a furniture shop from July 7 to 23, and posting a defamatory statement on Facebook on July 4. He was charged under Sections 507A and 500 of the Penal Code, which carry maximum penalties of three years' imprisonment, a fine or both, and two years' imprisonment, a fine or both, respectively. Sessions court judge Haderiah Siri allowed bail at RM15,000 for all three charges, with conditions, including no contact with prosecution witnesses and to report to the nearest police station once a month. Magistrate Sharda Shienha Suleiman set bail at RM6,000 for both charges, and ordered Akmal to report to the police station weekly and to have no contact with prosecution witnesses. 2 cops nabbed for allegedly taking RM635,000 bribe
The two suspects, in their 40s, were arrested at MACC's Johor headquarters at about 2am today while giving their statements. PETALING JAYA : Two policemen have been remanded for seven days on suspicion of soliciting and accepting a RM635,000 bribe to not take action against an individual over a gambling offence. The suspects were placed under remand until Aug 5 by the Johor Bahru magistrates' court following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Berita Harian quoted an MACC source as saying the duo, in their 40s, were arrested at the commission's Johor headquarters at about 2am today while giving their statements. 'Both suspects are believed to have conspired to solicit and accept the bribe in return for not taking action against the individual for gambling activities,' the source said. 'The suspects are believed to have received the bribe in cash.' Johor MACC deputy operations director Hairul Ilham Hamzah confirmed the arrests.
