Amazon Prime adds 'worst movie ever made' with a surprisingly good cast
But at least now you can decide for yourself if it's worthy of the shocking reviews, with its one redeeming factor being a stellar cast of A-listers.
Catwoman was released in 2004, with Halle Berry, Sharon Stone, Benjamin Bratt, Lambert Wilson, Frances Conroy, and Alex Borstein among its stars.
The American superhero film is loosely based on the original Catwoman character from DC Comics, following the life of Patience Phillips (Berry), a shy graphic designer working for cosmetics giant Hedare Beauty.
Ahead of the release of a groundbreaking anti-ageing product, Patience stumbles upon a huge conspiracy her employer is concealing, leading ultimately to her murder.
But when she is revived by an Egyptian Mau cat, Patience returns with feline abilities to become the crime-busting superheroine Catwoman.
The movie suffered an embarrassing flop upon release, making a loss by grossing $82.4million (£61m) against its $100m (£74m) budget.
Not only that, critics have been anything but kind to it—'catty' is perhaps the most fitting word—branding it one of the worst films ever made. No, seriously, there's a Wikipedia page titled 'List of films considered the worst,' and Catwoman is on it.
To add salt to the wound, Catwoman swept across awards season for all the wrong reasons, taking home not four Oscars, but rather four Golden Raspberries, including worst picture, worst director for Pitof, worst screenplay, and worst actress for Berry.
At the time, though, Berry, now 58, took it in her stride, even attending the Razzies in person to give an acceptance speech—best actress Academy Award for Monster's Ball in hand, of course.
'First of all, I want to thank Warner Bros,' she said on the mic. 'Thank you for putting me in a piece of s**t, god-awful movie … It was just what my career needed.'
Also in the aftermath of its release, Catwoman made Roger Ebert's 'most hated' list, was declared 'arguably the worst superhero film ever made' by the Orlando Sentinel, and called 'quite possibly' one of the worst films 'of all time' by Jean Lowerison of the San Diego Metropolitan.
But it's been over two decades, so let's see what film critics in recent years have had to say…
On review aggregator RT, James Vance of Tulsa World wrote in 2014: 'Halle Berry is a lovely woman with charisma to burn and definite acting ability — but even the best actors sometimes need to be told when they're making fools of themselves.'
OK, perhaps not the best start.
'Another hundred million dollars down the drain,' stated Bruce Diones of The New Yorker.
'A soulless amalgamation of quick edits, computer images and swooping, nausea-inducing dolly shots,' said Associated Press journo Christy Lemire.
'Catwoman is worse than bad — it's boring. So boring it's not even laughable,' penned Matt Soergel of Florida Times-Union.
So, the consensus is that it's a universally deplorable film, but there's got to be something good about it?
While they may be in the minority, Film4's Daniel Etherington argues it's 'not as bad' as you might expect, calling it 'daft and moderately entertaining.'
'This hilarious, sexy, exciting farce is instead so consistently surprising and dazzling that I'm still not sure if it's a good-bad movie or a good-good movie,' mused Jeffrey M. Anderson of Combustible Celluloid.
'Much better than it had to be and a lot better than many Internet critics, eager to hate it, wanted it to be,' added Rob Gonsalves from Rob's Movie Vault in perhaps the most glowing review available.
Basically, it's a film that people love to hate, and it's so bad you want to watch it to see what all the criticism is about.
It's also not the only low-rated film from Berry's career, whose 2003 horror Gothika also has a 15% RT score.
Although it seems she looks back on her panned projects more fondly these days, posting a nude snap on Insta when Catwoman celebrated its 20th anniversary. More Trending
Her caption read: 'It's been 20 years today since I had the honor of bringing this iconic character to life. She will always be close to my heart and I will forever be Patience Phillips aka CATWOMAN!
'Thank you @missjee79! When these black beauties showed up in my yard searching for their mother, Jee helped us through the rescue process. Forever grateful!'

Catwoman is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Iga Swiatek could sense Amanda Anisimova's tension in one-sided Wimbledon final
For the first time in more than 100 years, the women's final was won by a 6-0 6-0 scoreline, with Swiatek needing less than an hour to secure her maiden Wimbledon title. It was a nightmare scenario for 23-year-old American Anisimova, who was playing in her first slam final. A post shared by Amanda Kay Victoria (@amandaanisimova) 'At the beginning I saw that she was tense,' said the Pole. 'I wanted to focus on myself and not let that get into my head because it can be distracting, you can start taking things for granted. 'I can only imagine what she felt. Playing a grand slam final, it's a lot of pressure and she also must have felt a bit more fatigued after the semi-final. It's not easy and I was a bit worried but I wanted this win so bad that I just did my job. 'Do you really want to win Wimbledon? If you do, then you're not going to give any point for free.' After landing a final backhand just inside the line, Swiatek collapsed to the court and then climbed up into the stands to celebrate with her supporters, who included Friends star Courteney Cox. The pair first met at a sponsor's event in Paris last year and have stayed in touch. 'They know I love Friends,' said Swiatek. 'She loves tennis, she always posts about it and she plays pretty well so it was kind of funny. I didn't know she was going to come here. We're in touch but I'm glad she didn't text me because when I know someone famous is going to watch me I get stressed.' Swiatek took her tally of grand slam titles to six, but that is still one behind her coach, Belgian Wim Fissette, who has now won major trophies with four different players. He previously coached Angelique Kerber to the Wimbledon crown while he has also won US Open and Australian Open titles with Kim Clijsters and Naomi Osaka. A post shared by Courteney Cox (@courteneycoxofficial) Asked if he could have expected the scoreline, Fissette said: 'Of course not. You never do. But I knew that Iga was playing well. I was not there when she played her first five grand slam finals, but she won all of them, so it also means a lot.' The pair linked up at a difficult moment late last season when Swiatek had just split from previous coach Tomasz Wiktorowski and was privately fighting an anti-doping case, for which she eventually served a one-month suspension. There were question marks around whether it was the right fit, with Swiatek failing to win a title in the first six months of the year and struggling with pressure and expectation on her favoured clay. Those doubts now appear to be firmly in the past, with Fissette having helped persuade Swiatek she could thrive on grass. 'When I started, she was like, 'Wim, faster surfaces is just difficult for me',' he said. 'I had a feeling this could work out. Because just look at the champions the last 10 years. It's not always the big servers and the super big ground stroke players. 'Also good movers, smart players, that won, so, if Simona Halep can win, or (Marketa) Vondrousova can win, why not not Iga?' Fissette's key change was a footwork adjustment that helped the 24-year-old cope better with faster balls on her forehand – although she took some convincing. 'Let's say it was a battle to get that,' he said with a smile. 'When we started the clay-court season, Iga had so much success on the clay that it was difficult to find the moment, or impossible to say, 'We're going to do things a little different'. 'On the grass, there was an opening, because she never had success. So I came with some ideas. It was not easy to convince her. But, once she was convinced, she got better every day and and she texted me, actually, from the locker room, like, 'Maybe it was not a bad idea that point'.' Swiatek will return to the world's top three on Monday behind Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff, with the story of her season now flipped on its head. 'Semi final 6-2 6-0 and the final 6-0, 6-0, it's just incredible,' added Fissette. 'It's a beautiful story from struggling in Madrid and Rome. We still call it a successful Paris to go to the semis. That was the comeback and then peaking on the grass and winning our first trophy together.'

Nicola Peltz and her in-laws closer than ever amid tense Beckham family rift
Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham have sensationally fallen out with his family since their 2022 wedding - but it seems they get on like a house on fire with her side of the family Much has been made of the tense fallout between Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham against his family. The couple married in a lavish ceremony in 2022 under happier times, with all of 26-year-old Brooklyn's family present and correct at the nuptials. But soon after, rumours began to emerge of a rift between the couple and his famous parents; the former footballer David Beckham, 50, and former Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham, 51. More recently, family dramas reached a new peak as speculation erupted that Brooklyn and Nicola, 30, had fallen out with his brothers Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20 - while many fans noticed the couple seemingly snubbed David's 50th birthday celebrations. While the dramatic fallout continues to generate headlines, some fans have questioned how Nicola gets on with her other in-laws. As the daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz, 83, and his model wife Claudia Heffner Peltz, 70, the Transformer star is one of eight siblings. She is the sister of brothers Matthew, 40, Will, 39, Brad, 35, Diesel, 27, twins Zachary and Gregory, 22, and a sister named Brittany, 31. With her brothers and sister also enjoying high-profile romances, it is claimed that Nicola gets along much better with her side of the family than with the Beckham clan. Here we look at Nicola and Brooklyn's friendships with some of her extended family. Will Peltz and fiancée Kenya Jones TV and film fans may recognise Nicola's older brother Will, 39, who has starred in big and small screen dramas including Men, Women & Children, Entourage, and Euphoria. Where there has been no drama, however, is between Will, his fiancée, and his younger sister. He has been in a relationship with American fashion model Kenya Kinski-Jones since 2011 - and in recent weeks they became engaged. They shared the happy news on social media, with Kenya writing: "Just engaged. My whole heart for my whole life," with Nicola enthusiastically adding: "Best news ever!" It is believed Nicola - who has a matching tattoo with Will which reads "family" in Hebrew - and Kenya are very close friends. They attended The Daily Front Row Fashion Los Angeles Awards in 2016 and have holidayed together, along with Brooklyn and Will in 2022. In 2024, when Kenya's father Quincy Jones died at the age of 91, Nicola was one to offer her condolences. In an emotional Instagram post, she wrote: "Quincy, my heart is shattered I can't comprehend saying goodbye to you so I won't, I will say see you later." Nicola continued: "You were truly a gift from God. The legacy you have left here on earth is not only your musical genius that has touched the hearts of millions of people, but the most beautiful children that you raised - the Jones family, my family - I am so beyond grateful to know them. Quincy, I can't believe I got lucky enough in this life to grow up knowing your love, wisdom, laughter and light. The twinkle in your eye perfectly matched your smile and lit up this world. Your humour was unmatched, and you made me laugh more than anything. I miss laughing with you. "I love you so much q I will miss you every single day and everyday I will be reminded of your beauty through your unbelievable children. I promise to look out for Kenya for the rest of my life. She is my chosen sister and has your magic running through her. Love always your pita." Zach Peltz and girlfriend Aislinn Carnes Nicola's youngest brothers are twins Zach and Gregory and while they are professional ice hockey players, they generally keep themselves out of the spotlight. However, some details of Zach's private life - and his closeness to Nicola - have been revealed. He is in a loving romance with Instagram model Aislinn - with the pair occasionally posting loved-up snaps together. The pair shared a photo of their NYE kiss in 2023 and another snap showed them with their arms around each other. Their posts draw attention from the Peltz family who like the snaps and offer rare comments. In one post shared at Thanksgiving, Nicola responded with a string of heart eyed emojis to a photo of her brother and his girlfriend snuggled together. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports: "Brooklyn is fond of Zach and Aislinn as the four have previously spent time together in fun-filled images." Bradley Peltz and former flame Selena Gomez Fans looking for proof that Nicola is able to balance her family loyalties with close friendships - the evidence they seek is in her continued friendship with pop singer and actress Selena Gomez. While the Only Murders In The Building star is now engaged to music producer Benny Blanco, she was previously linked to former ice hockey player Bradley, 35. Brooklyn is also close to Selena, and the trio has been known to spend time together socially. Selena even celebrated Thanksgiving with Brooklyn and Nicola one year, with fans noting that Brad was also present at the celebrations. The Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast previously delved into the speculation about Selena and Brad back when rumours of a romance were ablaze. One fan claimed: "Streets saying Selena Gomez dating Brad Peltz omg." And another commented: "Selena is dating Brad Peltz?" - while fans also noted how frequently the pair were liking each other's social media posts. Selena began her relationship with Benny in 2023 and became engaged at the end of last year. Nicola and Selena also follow each other on Instagram. Matthew Peltz and Hallie Dunn Nicola's oldest brother, Matthew, has been married to his wife, Hallie Dunn, since 2018, and the couple welcomed a son in 2020. The couple keep themselves largely out of the spotlight, but it is believed Nicola is close to them and loves being an aunt to toddler nephew Asher Lion. Nicola shared a social media snap about the growing family not long after Asher arrived, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. She wrote online at the time: "Watching my big brother and his beautiful wife Hallie become new parents is incredible ,especially during this scary time. I hope all the new parents and babies are safe." Nicola's other siblings, Brad, Diesel and Gregory, are very fame shy, but fans could expect Nicola and Brooklyn to be closer to them than they are to his family. While Nicola and Brooklyn wished his sister Harper Seven Beckham a happy birthday earlier this month, it has been noticed that they have unfollowed Cruz and Romeo, fuelling speculation that the rift between the family members may be terminal.

'Must-see' crime drama with 100% Rotten Tomatoes score soars up streaming charts
Viewers have hailed the series as "one of the best shows of the year" A crime drama that fans have hailed a 'must-see' and even 'one of the best shows of the year' has climbed its way up Amazon Prime Video's charts. Ballard is a spin-off of Bosch, which aired between 2014 and 2021 and followed Los Angeles Police Detective Harry Bosch (played by Titus Welliver). This time, Maggie Q takes the lead role as LAPD Detective Renée Ballard, another character based on Michael Connelly's detective novels. The ten-part series sees her take command of the LAPD's new cold case unit within the Robbery-Homicide Division, as she leads a team attempting to solve decades-old murders. As she opens up the investigations, Ballard uncovers a web of corruption and secrets within the police department. The synopsis teases: 'Detective Renée Ballard plunges into a web of murder and corruption as she hunts a ruthless serial killer and uncovers a sinister police conspiracy that threatens everything she stands for. 'With her own demons nipping at her heels, Ballard must outwit both criminals and colleagues to bring long-overdue justice to the victims and their families.' Just days after it was released, Ballard has landed the number one spot on Amazon Prime Video's UK charts and scored a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. One person praised on Rotten Tomatoes: 'It doesn't disappoint and lives up to all expectations. It should surprise no one that Michael Connelly has another winner. Must see TV!' Another said: 'I can't stop watching it. After every episode, I think, "I need to go do x," but then I watch another.' 'Very engaging, binged the whole thing without stopping,' someone else said. Over on X, a fan wrote: '#Ballard is amazing. It picks up the pace when needed but also slows down, giving you time to breathe without ever being boring. It's been so long since I've seen a show do that, and isn't just a sensory overload (even if you binge it in a day). Also Maggie Q is absolutely [fire].' 'What a rollercoaster! Ballard was worth the binge... So far, Harry Bosch's universe remains undefeated,' another added. As well as roaring reviews from audience members, critics have hailed the Amazon Prime series. 'Smartly acted, beautifully paced and genuinely engaging, 'Ballard' is a thrilling ride from start to finish,' a Variety critic said. A review from Paste Magazine added: 'Ballard is kick-a**, earnest, and extremely well-written, and may well be one of the best shows of the year.' Addressing the demands for a second season, Maggie Q revealed to Variety: 'The good news is we have a writers' room already, so that's very positive. That does not mean we're going to get greenlit for a second season! 'I wish it did, but I've had writers' room start and then get ended. But the good news is that we are breaking the second season, which is very exciting.' Ballard is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
