Miracle in medical world! Baby born from 30-year-old frozen embryo — doctors say it's like a Sci-Fi movie

Time of India2 days ago
A baby boy named Thaddeus Daniel Pierce was born to a couple in Ohio from an embryo that was frozen for over 30 years, possibly setting a new world record. Lindsey Pierce, 35, and Tim Pierce, 34, had tried to have a baby for seven years before they adopted the embryo, which was originally created in 1994.
The baby was born from an embryo that belonged to Linda Archerd, 62, who made it with her then-husband through IVF three decades ago. Back in 1994, Ms Archerd created four embryos — one became her daughter, and the other three were kept frozen in storage for years, as per the report by BBC.

Woman keeps embryos frozen for 30 years
Even after she split from her husband, Ms Archerd didn't want to destroy or donate the embryos anonymously, because they were biologically linked to her daughter. She spent thousands of dollars each year to keep the embryos stored, hoping to find a good family one day.
She finally chose to use a Christian embryo adoption agency called Nightlight Christian Adoptions, through their 'Snowflakes' program. This program lets donors pick the family and even set preferences like religion, race, and nationality — Ms Archerd wanted a married, Caucasian, Christian couple from the U.S, as stated by the report by BBC.

How the Ohio couple got chosen
That's how she matched with the Pierces, who were looking to adopt an embryo and just wanted to have a child. The IVF procedure was done at Rejoice Fertility in Tennessee, which said they try to transfer any embryo, no matter how old.
Ms Pierce said they weren't trying to break any records, they only wanted a baby and were lucky to be chosen. Doctors say this is the longest an embryo has ever been frozen before leading to a live birth — the last record was in 2022 with twins from embryos frozen in 1992.

Wednesday Star Jenna Ortega Finds Life Online 'Isolating': ‘There Are So Many Opinions…'

Published By : Bang Showbiz Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has admitted she finds life online "very isolating" and worries it's "harder to find a sense of self" in the age of social media. Jenna Ortega finds life online 'very isolating" and worries it's 'harder to find a sense of self" in the age of social media. The Wednesday star, 22, is convinced many people 'don't talk to each other in person" anymore and she thinks it has eroded their sense of community – insisting she likes the idea of life in the 1970s when there was no social media or cell phones. She told the BBC: 'I wasn't around in the 70s, but I hear stories of people knocking on their neighbours' doors, and the bikes going all throughout the city, and just expecting to meet someone at a certain time on a certain location … '[Today] people don't talk to each other in person. They're interacting and finding their community online, which can be very isolating. 'Also, there are so many voices and so many opinions that you're exposed to, much more than you would typically be, or that humans are kind of meant to be exposed to. 'So I think it's harder to find a sense of self. Young people are struggling to find: 'What makes my voice stand out? What is it about me in this world and this society today that gives me a sense of purpose or control or authority?'" Jenna went on to insist The Addams Family spin-off show – in which she plays Wednesday Addams – has an important message for the younger generation. She explained: 'There's great comfort in seeing people who are so obviously themselves, freely, and place priority where it matters, and that's your family, that's who's in front of you, your special interests, that's your strength and your courage and your confidence in your voice. 'It's very easy now to get swept up in some sort of sheep mentality, and I think it's so important for young people to see this family now more than ever." It comes after it was revealed Wednesday has been renewed for a third season. The hit Netflix show is set to return on August 6 for the first half of its second series, but a third run of episodes has already been announced. In a joint statement, showrunners Alfred Cough and Miles Millar said: 'It's been a dark delight to watch Wednesday cast her spell over audiences across the globe — one deadpan quip at a time. 'We're beyond thrilled she'll be returning to stalk the halls of Nevermore in Season 3. 'This time, she'll unearth more of the school's sinister secrets — and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt. Or, as Wednesday would say: 'Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.'" view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. American Eagle backs Sydney Sweeney's wordplay ad campaign, says ‘it's about the jeans, nothing more'

American Eagle has backed Sydney Sweeney and responded to criticism over its latest campaign featuring the actress, after a promotional video sparked backlash for its use of wordplay involving 'jeans' and 'genes. The tagline, 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans, " was a cheeky reference to the brand's denim line. However, some viewers interpreted it as a double entendre that veered into problematic territory, especially after a teaser video surfaced online. My jeans are blue.' While not part of the official campaign, the video quickly drew criticism, with some accusing it of echoing language linked to eugenics and racially charged ideologies. A number of social media users and commentators claimed the phrasing and aesthetics of the teaser bore similarities to Nazi white supremacist propaganda. Others argued the controversy was exaggerated, calling the ad a harmless pun with no deeper intent. Live Events Amid the mounting debate, American Eagle issued a statement defending its creative direction: ''Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' is and always was about the jeans,' the company clarified. 'Her jeans. Her story. We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by American Eagle (@americaneagle) This is the brand's first public comment since the campaign launched last week. Prior to the release, American Eagle's Chief Marketing Officer described the messaging as intentionally 'provocative' and said it was designed to 'push buttons.' Whether the backlash was anticipated or not, marketing experts suggest the controversy could benefit the brand by keeping it in the spotlight. FAQs Why is Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad being criticized? The ad sparked backlash over its tagline 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,' which some interpreted as a controversial wordplay on 'genes,' drawing unintended associations with eugenics. What did American Eagle say about the 'great jeans' controversy? American Eagle clarified that the campaign was solely about denim and personal style, stating, 'It's about the jeans—her jeans, her story,' denying any deeper or offensive connotations. Has Sydney Sweeney responded to the jeans/genes ad backlash? As of now, Sydney Sweeney has not issued a public response regarding the controversy surrounding the American Eagle campaign.

Prasidh Krishna On What Made Joe Root Angry: 'I Just Said, You Are Looking...'

Last Updated: Prasidh Krishna has revealed what he told Joe Root that led to their fiery on-field spat. Indian fast-bowler Prasidh Krishna has revealed he told England's Joe Root that he was 'looking in great shape' during the fifth Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which led to 'a lot of abuse' and an ugly on-field spat between the two. Prasidh was slammed on social media for riling up someone with as clean an image as Root, but according to the Karnataka man, even he didn't expect 'such a big reaction'. The incident happened soon after Root came to the crease in the second innings of the Test. His face turned red after the conversation, and he hit a few boundaries against Prasidh, who responded with a couple of bouncers in anger. Umpire Kumar Dharmasena didn't take long to involve himself in it, following Prasidh like a hawk from thereon. He was heard having chats with KL Rahul and captain Shubman Gill, who didn't seem pleased with being asked to control the verbal attacks. 'I don't know why Rooty [reacted]," Prasidh told the BBC's Test Match Special. 'I just said, 'You're looking in great shape,' and then it turned into a lot of abuse and all of that. Later, at the press conference, Prasidh was asked if the plan was to distract the Englishman. 'That was the plan, but I didn't expect the couple of words I said to get such a big reaction from him," Prasidh said. Prasidh also conceded that Root was a legend of the game. 'That's just who I am when I'm bowling, when I'm enjoying. If it means that I have a bit of a chatter with the batter… and it does help me when I can get under the nerves of the batsman and get a reaction from them. But I love the guy that he is. He is a legend of the game and I think it is great when two people are out there wanting to do the best and be a winner at a given moment," he added. Eventually, Root got out LBW to Mohammed Siraj. England folded for 247, only 23 runs ahead of the visitors, and the third essay yielded 75/2 led by Yashasvi Jaiswal's fifty before Stumps.
