Patriots legend Stephon Gilmore reveals when Bills fans turned on him
The five-time Pro Bowl cornerback touted that his family would finally see him on television playing in New England, as opposed to staying in Buffalo. There were more primetime games for the Patriots, while the struggling Bills were typically blacked out of those marquee games at the time.
When appearing on The Money Down Podcast, Gilmore said he believed fans in Buffalo hated him after that post, even though he never meant it as disrespect.
"Especially what I said when I left. I mean, I didn't really mean it like that. I feel like the fans in Buffalo hated me after that," said Gilmore. "...I think I said, like, 'My family finally get to see me on TV,' or something like that. Because we weren't winning then. I was like, man, we ain't never on TV back home. We get one Thursday night game back in Buffalo. That's it."
Gilmore made good on his run in New England by appearing in two Super Bowls, winning one championship and becoming the lone player in franchise history to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
He was already a great player when he arrived, but his game elevated even further when playing under Patriots coach Bill Belichick. It just takes one look at Gilmore's accomplishments, and it's clear to see why going to New England was the right move.
Being over eight years removed from that decision, surely, Buffalo fans can see it as well.

Turpin faces possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon, both being misdemeanors in Texas. Jail records also confirm that Turpin was released from jail on Sunday. There are no further specifics on Turpin's incident or whether he will face any discipline from the Cowboys or the NFL. This isn't the first time Turpin has dealt with off-the-field legal issues, as he was kicked off his TCU Horned Frogs squad due to assault charges, which he pleaded guilty to in college. Turpin ended up going undrafted out of college, where he played in several leagues before ultimately landing with the Cowboys in 2022. He ended up finding a solid home there, earning two Pro Bowl nods during his three seasons, most of which were due to his ability to make magic happen on special teams. He was a first-team All-Pro last season after totaling a league-high 904 return yards on kickoffs with one touchdown. He also had a punt return and 187 yards on those kicks last season. Turpin can also provide some breakout speed when Dak Prescott gets him the ball, hauling in 31 receptions for 420 yards with two touchdowns. The Cowboys will open training camp on July 21, beginning their preparation for their Week 1 matchup — a "Thursday Night Football" bout to kick off the NFL season against the Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles. Cowboys star KaVontae Turpin was arrested Saturday in Texas on misdemeanor drug and weapon charges, according to online records from the Allen Police Department. Turpin posted a $1,500 bond Sunday and was released from Collin County Jail. The legalized amount varies from state to state among the other 24 but as much as six ounces – more than three times Turpin's amount – is legal in New Jersey.
