Photo byThroughout the course of the series against the Thunder, McConnell averaged 12 points per game off of the bench to go along with 4.3 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 steals. Recently, he spoke out with a strong opinion about who the toughest player in the NBA is to guard. Of course, McConnell is known as a tenacious defender. He wreaks havoc on many opposing guards. However, there is one guard that he has difficulty with in particular. That guard is none other than Dallas Mavericks' superstar point guard Kyrie Irving. During an appearance on the "Christian Kuntz Podcast," McConnell spoke out with a strong message about Irving. "Who's the hardest guy I've had to guard? Kyrie Irving," McConnell said. "The ball's on a string. You're on an island, and you just don't know what he's gonna do. You could force him one way, but he still ends up getting the way you don't want him. His handle is impeccable. It's impeccable. He's got the greatest handle I've seen. He could really shoot it like, he's fast, it's just, it's a tough place to be mentally when you're when you're guarding Kyrie." There is no concrete timetable for his return to the court, but the Mavericks are hoping that he'll be playing during the 2025-26 season. All of that being said, McConnell showering Irving with this kind of praise is telling. Irving has been a lethal scorer and ball-handler his entire career. McConnell and the Pacers will have their work cut out for them during the 2025-26 campaign. Without Haliburton on the court, they'll have a steep hill to climb to remain as one of the top teams in the NBA. Ennis Rakestraw chest injury gets positive initial reported diagnosis
#Lions CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr., who left practice today early with an injury, is believed to have suffered just a chest contusion, source says. A positive outcome. Lions fans traumatized by last season's calamitous number of defensive injuries were unceremoniously thrown into the wringer on Day 1 of training camp. After Levi Onwuzurike was confirmed to be out for the season with an ACL, Ennis Rakestraw left practice with a chest injury. The 2024 calendar year was a rough one for Ennis Rakestraw medically. At the end of 2023 or early 2024, he had core muscle surgery. During last season, he missed ten games with two separate hamstring injuries. This offseason appeared to be a healthy one for Rakestraw, but the good feelings were immediately put in jeopardy today. The possibilities for a chest injury include a pec rupture which Lions fans have seen too frequently in the past couple years. Last season, Emmanuel Moseley ruptured his pec in early August, and Kyle Peko did the same in Week 6. The year prior saw CJ Gardner-Johnson rupture his pec in Week 2. Fortunately, the early news is excellent for Rakestraw as the initial diagnosis as reported by Ian Rapaport is a simple chest contusion (bruise). If the diagnosis holds true, it's an excellent outcome, and he should be back soon without any long-term effects. This scenario is déjà vu of last season when Terrion Arnold had a pec injury during preseason that may have also been a simple contusion. #Lions first-round CB Terrion Arnold, who left practice yesterday with a pec injury, is not expected to miss time in the regular season, sources say. Some good news. There will likely be many more injury scares over the course of training camp and preseason, and hopefully they all turn out as benign as Rakestraw's.

Motocross 2025 250 results, highlights, finish at Washougal: Jo Shimoda wins second time in three rounds
With a second-place finish in Moto 1 of the Washougal (Washington) National and a victory in the second moto, Jo Shimoda won for the second time in the past three rounds. His first victory of 2025 came at RedBud MX Park in Buchanan, Michigan two weeks ago. Shimoda was off to a strong start with back-to-back second-place finishes at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, and Hangtown in Rancho Cordova, California, to start the season, but as soon as the series left the Left Coast, he began to struggle. Shimoda finished sixth at Thunder Valley and High Point, and then barely cracked the top five at The Wick 338 in Southwick, Massachusetts. He finished 10th in Moto 1 of that round, but rebounded to finish second in Moto 2 for an overall finish of fifth. Finishing second in Moto 2 was the confidence booster Shimoda needed. He swept the motos of RedBud, finished third overall at Spring Creek last week, and came to Washougal with a spring in his step. The points championship is practically out of reach, but with the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) looming, Shimoda needs momentum. Click here for a recap of Washougal Haiden Deegan is still feeling the effects of his crash in qualification for the RedBud National. What he thought was a charley horse turned out to be a deep bruise that kept him off the bike in training the following week. Even at less than 100 percent, Deegan held Shimoda at bay in Millville, Minnesota, in Moto 1 and won the overall with a 1-2 finish. He had the same results in Washougal, but lost the overall on a tiebreaker when Shimoda beat him in the second race to earn the tiebreaker. Garrett Marchbanks scored his first 250 Pro Motocross divisional podium with results of third in Moto 1 and fourth in Moto 2. He was close in Thunder Valley with a moto podium in the first race and a fourth-place overall finish. This was his fifth top-five of the season as he and the team begins conversations about what 2026 will look like. Relive Moto 1 Seth Hammaker had a drama-free Washougal National. And, after his disastrous showing the week before in Spring Creek, when he failed to earn points with a 27th-place finish in Moto 1 and a 39th-place finish in the second race, that was just fine with him. It has been a long road for Hammaker in 2025 Motocross. This was his first top-five of the season, with his previous best showing a pair of sevenths at Fox Raceway and High Point. The 2025 season has been one of steady improvement for Austin Forkner, who returned from injury at the beginning of the Monster Energy Supercross season. A viscous crash in Detroit in 2024 preceded a lengthy rehabilitation period, and once the outdoor season began, he was still not 100 percent. Forkner finished a distant 31st in Pala and failed to crack the top 15 in the next five rounds. Things finally came together last week when he finished eighth overall at Spring Creek. He earned his first top-five of the season in Washougal with a pair of fifth-place moto finishes.
