Katy Perry nearly falls from prop mid-air during performance

Metro3 days ago
Katy Perry has been left clinging on to a prop after it began to tilt while she was suspended in the air.
Since kicking off her Lifetimes world tour in May the Dark Horse singer, who is reported to have recently split from fiancé Orlando Bloom, has faced a string of close calls, including nearly plunging into a crowd, narrowly avoiding a wardrobe malfunction and having a fan rush on stage and grab her.
This week the 40-year-old added another somewhat unsettling moment to that list when a prop she was dangling in appeared to malfunction.
During a performance at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Australia on Sunday night, clips circulating on social media show Katy inside a large metal sphere that usually takes her soaring above the crowd.
But as it began to rise, it started to tilt to one side, with the singer rushing to grab the frame to maintain her balance.
The sphere was then lowered, and several crew members came running up to assist her, letting Katy out before working to fix it, with people who were at the show explaining they spent five minutes getting the prop fixed.
Many who were there described what they saw as 'scary'.
'She got her wrist stuck in the aerial strap she uses to go upside down – she was trying to get out but couldn't so the stage crew came on to help release her and she disappeared into the stage pit to change whilst they fixed the sphere. It was maybe five minutes,' user LouLoulaBelle posted on X.
'Katy Perry handled it like a queen. So glad she got down safely,' user Narlee, who also shared footage, commented.
Another concertgoer explained how 'everyone started clapping' when the singer got down.
Although Katy is yet to comment on what unfolded, her mishap comes just a few days after Beyoncé faced a prop 'malfunction' of her own.
On Saturday night's Cowboy Carter show in Houston, Texas she was performing her song 16 Carriages in a car suspended above concertgoers at NRG Stadium.
However, in videos captured by those in the crowd, the prop then began to tilt mid-air.
'Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,' she said into the microphone as the music cut out. Remaining suspended in the air, she looked at the ground and up again before smiling at the crowd as they cheered.

After a few seconds, Beyoncé then told them 'thank y'all for your patience', before the car was lowered into the centre of the stadium.
After the show, the singer's production and management company, Parkwood, released a statement regarding the incident.
'Tonight, in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium and see her fans up close, to tilt,' it shared on Instagram.
'She was quickly lowered, and no one was injured. The show continued without incident.'
Metro has contacted representatives for Katy Perry for comment.

I always get the 'heatwave horn' – it's the same every summer

As I opened the front door, my jaw dropped. Standing in my foyer was a gorgeous man wearing nothing but a towel – which, seconds later, he let fall to the floor. I was rendered speechless by the sight of his sun-kissed skin and taut muscles, but kept my eyes firmly above his waist. 'I just wanted to come upstairs and say hi,' he said with a cheeky smile. Lawrence* and I had met just an hour earlier down by the pool in the communal area. I asked if I could join him in the water and he happily welcomed my company. We flirted wildly as I learned that he's in town on holiday and staying in my building. Around 20 minutes later, having organised to meet a friend for lunch and in need of a shower before I did, I excused myself. I had a distinct feeling that I'd see him again – but not quite this soon. And not quite this naked. 'Well this is a nice surprise,' I replied, while finally allowing my eyes to wander downwards. Let's just say that Lawrence was very happy to see me. Suddenly, without warning, he reached his arm towards my waist and pulled me in so that we were standing with our faces inches apart. Love reading juicy stories like this? We can't wait for you to join us! I smiled and gently nodded – a silent version of giving my consent – and he leaned in for a hot, passionate kiss. 'If you're free later, let's meet up. I am staying two floors down in flat 26,' he said when we finally came up for air. Seconds later, he picked up his towel, got in the lift, and left me standing in the doorway with a dazed expression and scrambled brain. This delightful moment took place during a very hot summer several years ago and I still find the entire thing utterly bizarre in the best way possible. I'm not actually all that surprised by my actions because I've always been a sucker for a good combination of sunshine and sex. When the heatwave horn hits, there's no telling what I might do. And I'm not alone in feeling this way. Many studies show a spike in people's sex drives when we get more Vitamin D, with one survey suggesting that July is our friskiest month. With the UK experiencing high temperatures in the summer months, my libido has been feeling the effects – and with little warning at times. Love reading juicy stories like this? We can't wait for you to join us! Take earlier this week, when my boyfriend and I were on our way to the supermarket, hardly the sexiest of activities. But I couldn't keep my hands off him; I was soon running my fingers down his jeans, grabbing his butt and kissing his shoulder. I got myself so hot and bothered that he eventually had to tell me to stop because we were in public. It was a very fair point but something that my sun and sex fogged brain had all but forgotten. We picked things up when we got home and he delivered the orgasm I'd craved all day. In the past, I've been much naughtier with my desires. During a hot summer's day, one of my lovers asked me to swing by during his lunch break. We ended up making out on a picnic table by the bar where he worked. At one point, his hands slipped inside my jeans shorts and I struggled to keep quiet. Thankfully, there was no one around and we were well out of view from the main street. Another time, the heatwave horn saw me shag my then-boyfriend at his workplace. We found a quiet room and went at it for about 15 minutes. It was incredibly hot but I was terrified that someone might walk in. The hot weather has also seen me shag on a sun lounger in full view of a dozen people. It was very fun but I don't recommend doing this at your average all-inclusive hotel. This was at a private swingers resort where virtually anything goes, so we didn't break any rules or laws. The horn doesn't just see me choose peculiar sexual locations – it can also impact my choice of partner. Like that time I decided it would be a splendid idea to get in touch with a former flame for a heatwave hook-up. He was great in the sack but not a particularly nice guy. I'm not saying the rise in temperature – which can affect your hormones and boost your senses – was solely to blame for my poor decision-making on this occasion. But it definitely played a part. If this rings true for you as well, I recommend ignoring this particular call of the horn and finding yourself a new lover. Most of the time, I welcome the heatwave horn. But it's important to not give it too much power – especially given Britain isn't exactly known for having a high number of sunshine days. Oh, and as for Lawrence – the guy I met at the pool – I went to his room later that night and the sex was so mind-blowing I went back for seconds the following evening. Neighbours filming wraps on Ramsay Street for the last time

It's the end of an era – Neighbours has filmed the last ever scenes on Ramsay Street today. The fictional cul-de-sac has been at the centre of the drama for over 40 years, but today the cameras stopped rolling on the real life location that doubles as the famous homes. Cast and crew gathered on Pin Oak Court in Vermont South, which is occupied by real residents who allow their houses to be used for exterior shots, for what is likely to be the final time. This comes following Amazon Prime Video's decision to pull the plug earlier this year, just two years on from announcing that they were reviving the Australian soap. Executive producer Jason Herbison, who has overseen the show in both its formats over many years, still has hope that it can have a future. In a statement he said: 'Audiences all around the world have loved and embraced Neighbours for four decades and we are very proud of the huge success over the last two years including often appearing as one of the top 10 titles in the UK and the show's first ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Daytime Series in 2024. 'As this chapter closes, we appreciate and thank Amazon MGM Studios for all that they have done for Neighbours – bringing this iconic and much-loved series to new audiences globally.' Metro understands that the last ever scenes from the serial's production base in Nunawading will be recorded on Friday, July 11 – one week today. On Instagram, show legend Annie Jones, who first appeared as Jane Harris in 1986, shared a photo of her in a car with Hannah Monson, who has played Nicolette Stone since the revival. 'On our way to Ramsay St for the LAST time,' she wrote. Sara West, who joined as Cara Varga-Murphy in 2023, uploaded a similar picture with co-stars Naomi Rukavina and Riley Bryant, who play Cara's wife Remi and their son JJ. She cheekily edited Marley Williams, who plays their younger son Dex into the snap, writing: 'Last ride down to Ramsay St.' More Trending Meanwhile, show icon Rebekah Elmaloglou was stood at the bottom of a gloomy Pin Oak Court, adding: 'Farewell Ramsay Street!' to her emotional shot. Coronation Street legend ‘can't wait' as she announces new role

Coronation Street legend Kym Marsh has announced her next role – and it isn't a return to the cobbles. When Kym announced her exit from BBC school drama Waterloo Road earlier this year, Corrie fans began theorising that she would return to the ITV soap – though it appears this isn't the case. Instead, Kym is set to tread the boards once more as she takes on the lead role of Hedy in the UK and Ireland tour of Single White Female. The play, which is adapted by Rebecca Reid from the film of the same name and the book SWF Seeks Same by John Lutz, will hit the stage in January 2026. Taking to Instagram, Kym shared her excitement at taking on the new role. 'Aarrgghhh! I am so excited to announce that I'll be playing Hedy in this brand new stage adaptation of 90s blockbuster Single White Female,' she wrote. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I remember being gripped when I first saw it in the cinema and I can't wait to be part of the team that brings it to life on stage. 'The UK and Ireland tour starts in January and you can find the link for dates, venues and tickets in my bio!' She finished, warning fans to 'Watch out for the stilettos!'. Her new venture was supported in the comments by several of her famous friends, with Corrie star Claire Sweeney writing: 'Well done darling.' 'Can't wait to watch you,' fellow Corrie alum Helen Flanagan added. Kym starred as Michelle Connor in Coronation Street from 2006 until 2019, when the character left to start a new life with family in Ireland. Michelle was part of some big storylines during her time on the cobbles, including the discovery that her son had been swapped at birth, the deaths of both of her brothers, a stalking ordeal, and a shooting. Perhaps her most moving storyline saw her tragically lose son Ruairi after going into early labour. Before her exit, Michelle was involved in a dramatic love triangle that saw her discover that fiancé Robert Preston was leading a double life, having got Vicky Jefferies pregnant. Following the discovery, Michelle and Vicky teamed up to get revenge on Robert by framing him for Vicky's murder. However, they scrapped their plan when Vicky went into labour while in hiding, with Michelle forced to deliver the baby. More Trending After leaving the show, Kym starred in several stage productions including the stage adaptation of Fatal Attraction and musicals Greatest Days and 101 Dalmatians. She has also presented BBC Morning Live and was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
