‘Horrendous' Prime Video movie starring famous rapper dubbed 'new level of bad'
Prime Video subscribers are claiming a new science fiction thriller based on one of the most iconic novels of all time could be one of the worst movies ever made.
The streaming platform has seen plenty of success with its new and returning titles this year, from action-packed films G20 and Heads of State to hit series We Were Liars and the return of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Unfortunately, their latest release has completely slipped under most viewers' radars this week.
Its lack of attention seems to be for good reason though, as War of the Worlds, starring Ice Cube in the lead role, has been universally panned by critics and viewers.
The reimagining of HG Wells' influential alien invasion novel received a tragic 0 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, not faring much better with audiences, who awarded it a mere 11 percent.
This version of the classic sci-fi thriller features the famous rapper as a cyber-security analyst for Homeland Security and takes inspiration from recent 'screenlife' films, which take place entirely on computer and smartphone screens.
However, this fresh take on a fan-favourite novel has caught significant backlash from those who had the misfortune of tuning in this weekend.
One Reddit user claims the film is 'on another level of bad'.
To which someone replied: 'I honestly think this may be one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
'Sure there are plenty of movies that fail in every possible way and end up a nonsensical mess.
'But even those have a certain charm and a certain level of effort behind them. This movie is the absolute laziest movie I've ever seen, and it's so blatant about it.'
Another user gave a damning verdict: 'A friend of mine, who likes just about everything, even new Marvel c***, hated this movie. It must be REALLY bad if that man was struggling to find anything positive to say about it at all.'
Over on another thread, one viewer said War of the Worlds could be the 'worst movie of all time'.
'How they let this movie come out is beyond me,' they lamented.
'Have to assume Eva Longoria and Ice Cube must have got PAIDDDD to be in this AI junk. Didn't think we could see worse than the weekend's movie but here it is!'
'One of the most atrocious movies I've ever seen,' someone else remarked.
While a Letterboxd reviewer gave it a scathing half a star, declaring: 'Not a fan of being hyperbolic but arguably one of the worse movies to be released/distributed by a major platform in the last 5 years.'

Millions of viewers have watched the likes of Toni Laites and Shakira Khan clash with Helena and Meg Moore. Things got especially heated when Harry Cooksley's head was turned back to Shakira after he made his partnership with Helena 'exclusive'. But one viewer noticed that the divide came about a long time before the infamous Grafties ceremony. On fan forum platform Reddit, one informed fan noticed that the girls were splitting in the villa all the way back in episode two of the 2025 series. A throwback clip posted on the platform, in a thread titled 'Episode 2- the start of the divide'. In the video, Shakira made a new best friend in Toni after her bombshell arrival and the duo gossiped together by the firepit. This was as Alima Gagigo, Sophie Lee, Megan, Helena, and Meg were all sitting together in a separate part of the villa.
