Rishabh Pant Labels Rohit Sharma 'Jethani', Gautam Gambhir Can't Stop Laughing
Rishabh Pant made India head coach Gautam Gambhir burst out with laughter by picking Rohit Sharma as the 'Jethani' or the typical daily-soap sister-in-law of the Men in Blue dressing room during an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. Gambhir couldn't control himself at the wicketkeeper-batter's prompt response and suggested that he could take the name only because Rohit had taken retirement.
Pant's answer was in response to host Kapil Sharma's question on who in the team took advantage of their seniority and had a bossy attitude towards players.
'In most families, there is a jethani (sister-in-law), who's calling all the shots. Who is such a player in the Indian team, someone who orders around, even if it was to take advantage of their seniority?" Kapil asked Pant.
To which, the 'keeper replied: 'Rohit bhai is like that…. he can come out a bit strong!"
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter was sitting between teammates Abhishek Sharma and Yuzvendra Chahal, who also couldn't control themselves.
Rohit stunned many by announcing his retirement from Test cricket in May. His reveal came soon after reports came through claiming that he was to be removed from captaincy ahead of the five-Test tour of England, which is currently ongoing with India playing under Shubman Gill.
While his loyal supporters expected Rohit to bounce back in England, the cricketer penned an emotional farewell note on an Instagram story post on May 7. 'Hello everyone I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It's been an absolute honor to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format," Rohit wrote.
Rohit, who had emerged as one of the best openers in the format since being asked to do the top-order duties in September 2019, had a drastic fall on his returns last season and had a disastrous final assignment as player and captain in the 3-1 loss at the hands of Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
In his absence, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul have handled the job well, as India continue to compete at Edgbaston in the second Test after losing the first by five wickets at Headingley.

Sakshi, Jaismine, Nupur clinch gold as India bags 11 medals at World Boxing Cup
Astana: Women boxers led India's march to glory as three of them — Sakshi (54kg), Jaismine (57kg) and Nupur (80+kg) — registered contrasting victories to bag gold medals as the Indian contingent clinched its best ever medal haul at the World Boxing Cup – Astana, Kazakhstan 2025 here on Sunday. Sakshi was at her attacking best against USA's Yosline Perez to get a unanimous verdict from the judges in the women's 54kg final while Jaismine kept her cool under pressure to get the better of Jucielen Cequeira Romeu of Brazil 4:1 in the women's 57kg weight category. Nupur then overcame the challenge of Kazakhstan boxer Yeldana Talipova to earn a 5:0 verdict in the 80+kg final. The Indian contingent finished with 11 medals, including three gold, five silver and three bronze medals. India had bagged six medals in the first leg in Brazil, including a gold and a silver. In the first session of the final day on Sunday, it was Sakshi who managed to stand atop of the podium with a stellar display that combined speed and combination punches and open India's gold medal account. In the evening session, Jaismine had to use her long reach to keep her Brazilian opponent at bay in the third and final round after there was not much to separate the two after the first two rounds. The tall 23-year-old stayed away from her opponent in the final round and landed punches on the counter attack to get the judges' nod. Nupur also struggled at the start against Talipova as the home boxer took the opening round. But the Indian boxer completely dominated the next two rounds, landing punches at will and out-thinking her opponent to have the last laugh. Earlier, Meenakshi pushed hard for victory against local favourite Nazym Kyzaibay in the 48kg final but ended on the wrong side of a 3:2 verdict. Jugnoo (men's 85kg), Pooja Rani (women's 80kg), Hitesh Gulia (men's 70kg) and Abhinash Jamwal (men's 65kg) will also return home with silver medals after losing their respective finals. Jugnoo lost 0:5 against Bekzad Nurdauletov of Kazakhstan while Pooja went down by an identical score line against Australia's Eseta Flint. In the evening session, Hitesh lost 0:5 against Brazil's Kaian Oliveira while Jamwal went down 2:3 against Yuri Falcao. Sanju (women's 60kg), Nikhil Dubey (men's 75kg) and Narender (men's 90+ kg) will return home with a bronze medal each.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas dreads this household chore, but the person she tricked into doing it will leave you in splits
Synopsis Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently shared a humorous story about avoiding her least favorite chore, 'laundry' by tricking her mother-in-law, Denise Jonas, into doing it for her. In a recent interview, the global icon revealed her struggle with the complexities of washing clothes, offering fans a relatable glimpse into her domestic life beyond the glamour. In a candid interview Priyanka Chopra Jonas confessed she cleverly let her mother-in-law Denise Miller Jonas take over her laundry duties under the guise of learning. (Image: Instagram/ Nick Jonas) Priyanka Chopra Jonas may have a shelf full of accolades, a thriving acting career across continents, and the title of Miss World 2000 under her belt — but when it comes to household chores, there's one task she's hilariously determined to avoid: laundry. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 42-year-old actress and producer candidly confessed that despite her polished public persona, the washing machine remains her personal nemesis. 'Laundry is a hard chore for me. I find it tough,' she said. 'I'll always try to get someone else to do it.' And as it turns out, that 'someone' happened to be none other than her mother-in-law, Denise a glimpse into their close-knit relationship, Priyanka revealed that her mother-in-law once offered to teach her the ropes of laundry. But in a twist worthy of a sitcom, Chopra Jonas had a different plan. 'That was just my way of getting her to do my laundry for me!' she laughed, admitting that she let the tutorial play out just long enough before surrendering the job to Denise. 'I can steam an iron, I can fold,' she clarified. 'But just getting through the process of laundry is just really tough. Too many buttons, too many choices, too many little things…' Following the playful confession, Priyanka joked she needed to make a phone call right away. 'I'm going to call her right now and tell her I said this. 'Just want you to know!'' she added, laughing. Since marrying Nick Jonas in 2018, Priyanka has maintained a warm and visible bond with the Jonas family. Denise, in particular, has often appeared in candid social media moments featuring the couple's three-year-old daughter, Malti Marie. The affection is mutual. Back in 2023, on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Priyanka shared a touching moment when Denise recalled watching the young Indian contestant win the Miss World pageant in 2000. At the time, Nick was just seven years old, while Priyanka was seventeen. 'My mother-in-law was like, 'I remember watching you when you won,'' Priyanka said, still awestruck at how time — and fate — brought their worlds together. 'He was sitting there, and he was watching. Unfathomable.'While she may avoid the spin cycle at home, Priyanka Chopra Jonas continues to be in constant motion professionally. Her latest action-comedy Heads of State is now streaming on Prime Video, featuring John Cena as the U.S. president and Idris Elba as the U.K. prime minister. Directed by Ilya Naishuller, the film is yet another addition to her increasingly diverse filmography. Up next, Chopra Jonas will be seen in The Bluff alongside Karl Urban and Judgment Day, co-starring Zac Efron and Will Ferrell — both projects that signal her growing influence in global cinema. But amid all the Hollywood action, it's the quieter, personal anecdotes — like tricking your mother-in-law into doing the laundry — that remind fans why Priyanka remains one of the most relatable stars.

Pant, Jamie achieve all-time batting record in England amongst wicketkeeper-batters
Birmingham [UK], July 6 (ANI): Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and his English counterpart Jamie Smith made history, as they together secured the highest aggregate by wicketkeeper-batters during a Test series in England. The duo secured this record during the second Test at Birmingham. While Rishabh scored just 25 in the first innings, contributing very little to India's first innings total of 587 runs, Jamie scored an unbeaten 184* in 207 balls in England's first innings, consisting of 21 fours and four sixes as a part of a 303-run stand with Harry Brook following an early collapse which left England at 89/5. Brook and Jamie made sure England reached 407 runs, trailing by 180 runs still. Jamie attained the highest individual score by an England wicketkeeper-batter in Tests, overtaking Alec Stewart's 173 back in 1997 against New Zealand. In the second innings, Pant had an attacking 110-run fourth-wicket partnership with skipper Gill, scoring an entertaining 65 in 58 balls, with eight fours and three sixes. This knock had it all, be it bat slips, shots with him falling on the ground and some exhibition of brute strength. India declared at 427/6, extending their lead to 607 runs and setting 608 runs for England to win. During the run-chase, Smith proved to be the sole ray of hope for England, scoring 88 in 99 balls, with nine fours and four sixes. So far, the wicketkeeping duo has scored a combined 698 runs in the series, surpassing the 674 runs scored by Alec Stewart (378) and Australia's Ian Healy (296) in the 1993 Ashes. Jamie is the second-highest run-getter in the series, with 356 runs in two matches and four innings at an average of 178.00 and a strike rate of 86.19, with a century and fifty. Pant is at third, with 342 runs in two matches and four innings at an average of 85.50 and a strike rate of 81.81, with two centuries (scores of 134 and 118 at Leeds) and a fifty. Coming to the match, Deep continued his sensational form and struck twice in the first session of Day 5 as England powered to 153/6 at Lunch in the second test against India on Sunday, at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Washington Sundar struck right before lunch, he catches Ben Stokes plumb in front, and England were left six down. At the end of the first session, England reached 153/6 with Jamie Smith 32* unbeaten on the crease and 455 runs away from the victory. England started Day 5 on 72/3 in 16 overs, 556 runs short of victory, with Harry Brook and Ollie Pope unbeaten on scores of 15(15) and 24(44). India needed to scythe seven scalps on the final day to restore parity at 1-1 in the five-match series. Play started after nearly a two-hour rain delay on Day 5 of the second Test. Due to the delay, 80 overs will be bowled. Akash Deep was all over England like a rash in his opening spell of the first session as he worked his magic. He sent both overnight batters, Ollie Pope, 24 and Harry Brook, 23, to the hut. The duo of England skipper Ben Stokes and Jamie Smith completed 50-run partnership for the 6th wicket in the 35th over after Stokes smashed a four off Siraj towards mid-wicket. Just before lunch, Washington Sundar removed England's skipper for 33 off 73 balls, including six fours. England won the toss and opted to bowl. India posted 587 with Indian skipper Shubman Gill's historic double hundred. Mohammed Siraj grabbed six wickets as India bowled out England for 407 runs, taking a first-innings lead of 180 runs. India finished second on 427, setting a massive target of 608 for England, with Indian skipper Shubman Gill making another hundred in the match. Brief score: India: 587 (Shubman Gill 269, Ravindra Jadeja 89, Shoaib Bashir 3/167) against England: 407 (Jamie Smith 184*, Harry Brook 158; Mohammed Siraj 6/70/). India 427/6 d (Shubman Gill 161, Ravindra Jadeja 69*; 2/119) England 153/6 (Ben Stokes 33, Jamie Smith 32*; Akash Deep 4/58). (ANI)
