High Potential Season 2 Will Explore ‘What Really Happened' Between Morgan and Ludo

Yahoo05-03-2025
By the time High Potential wrapped its first season on ABC, Kaitlin Olson's character was basically drowning in eligible bachelors.
Many fans are pulling for Morgan to end up with Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), her new partner at the LAPD, while others are curious to see where things go between Morgan and Tom (JD Pardo), the janitor-turned-nurse with whom she was getting hot and heavy before he relocated to San Diego for work. Heck, people are even 'shipping Morgan with David Giuntoli's mystery character, who has only gotten about 30 seconds of screen time — and we don't even know his name yet!

I'll be happy for Morgan no matter which lucky guy she ends up with, but I also think there's one very important name being left out of this conversation: Ludo, Morgan's DMV instructor ex and the father of her two younger children. Played by Taran Killam, Ludo seems perfectly nice, easy to get along with and a huge help around the house. So what the heck happened between him and Morgan that ended their relationship, especially just after she'd given birth to baby Chloe? And does he have any interest in rekindling their flame, or is he perfectly happy being a platonic co-parent?
Those questions and more will be answered when High Potential returns for Season 2, showrunner Todd Harthan tells TVLine, explaining that there simply wasn't enough time in the procedural's 13-episode first season to properly delve into Morgan and Ludo's backstory.
'I think the audience has a real appetite to find out what really happened,' Harthan says. 'What was it like the day they sat down and had a conversation about what wasn't working? How did they decide how they should co-parent? What caused that? So now it's our job to come up with a story.'

As Harthan points out, there are a number of possible avenues to go down here. Perhaps Morgan will get a case 'that hits a certain nerve and reminds her of that period in their lives.' Or maybe 'a new love coming into one of their lives where they have to sort of explore that chapter.' Either way, Harthan says, 'We absolutely will tell that story. What happened between them? I think we're going to answer that question this year.'

Jessica Simpson Wears Tiny Red Bikini as She Snaps New Mirror Selfie While Celebrating Fourth of July

Jessica Simpson shared a mirror selfie on Instagram of herself wearing a tiny red bikini as she celebrated the Fourth of July holiday She accessorized her stylish swimwear look with oversized white sunglasses Simpson's latest selfie comes after she debuted a dirty blonde hair transformation during the season 23 finale of American Idol in MayJessica Simpson put a patriotic spin on her latest swimwear look. As she celebrated the Fourth of July holiday on Friday, the pop star, 44, shared a new mirror selfie on her Instagram Stories, showing off her festive outfit. She sported a tiny red bikini, topped with an olive green, military-inspired short-sleeve shirt, worn unbuttoned. Her accessories included a large pair of white sunglasses and a printed bandana headband. A navy blue baseball cap decorated with the letters "USA" and an American flag emblem could be seen sitting on the bathroom counter. Simpson's selfie was fittingly soundtracked by the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers classic "American Girl." The fashion mogul has been having a little fun with her personal style lately. On May 31, she tried out a goth glam look for a night out to the We Matter x Limitless Mental Health Dinner in Los Angeles. Her ensemble featured a black satin mini slip dress with lingerie-inspired lace trim around the bust. She amped up her look by wearing a black feathered cropped jacket over the dress, along with black sheer stockings and black pointy-toe platform boots. A ring adorned with two large turquoise stones added a pop of bright color to her all-black fashion moment. Simpson also recently shook things up by making a change to her signature blonde hair. While making a special appearance during the season 23 finale of American Idol on May 18, the mom of three debuted freshly dyed dirty blonde hair with sun-kissed highlights. Her longtime hair guru and friend, celebrity colorist Rita Hazan, described Simpson's new shade to PEOPLE as "desert sunset blonde." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. She said it took "two hours" to complete. According to Hazan, Simpson "loved" her new hair color. "She was so happy to get a new look and switch it up," Hazan said. "She always had a super buttery blonde — this time we wanted something new and youthful." "I think it's a fresh and young vibe, but with confidence and a slight attitude to represent her mood," the stylist added. Prior to her American Idol appearance, Simpson told PEOPLE that her "style evolves as I do on a personal level, through each stage of my life." She also said she draws fashion inspiration from nearly anywhere — and is a Pinterest devotee. "Anything from a vintage printed wallpaper in a movie I am watching or a performance piece displayed in an old documentary," Simpson explained. "Everyone who knows me knows I am observant. I never miss a detail. Inspiration comes at me in visceral ways, every single day. And I honestly don't know what I would do without Pinterest." Read the original article on People

Kelly Monaco reveals why she was almost talked out of joining ‘Dancing with the Stars'

Kelly Monaco almost cha-chaed her way out of the ballroom. The 'General Hospital' star, 49, recalled being told that participating in Season 1 of 'Dancing with the Stars' in 2005 would harm her career as an actress. Monaco had joined the ABC soap opera two years prior in 2003, as Sam McCall, when she got the offer to join the competition series. 11 Kelly Monaco and her partner, Alec Mazo on 'DWTS.' Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images 'I had a letter in my mailbox in my dressing room at 'General Hospital,'' she recounted to Entertainment Weekly on Saturday. 'We have these little mailboxes outside of our dressing rooms, and there was a letter in there, and it was a request to do 'Dancing with the Stars.'' 'I remember bringing it home,' Monaco continued, 'and getting feedback from family, friends, and so forth, and they were like, 'You can't do a reality show. Actors don't do a reality show.'' At the time, the 'Welcome to Hollywood' alum wasn't well-versed in the world of dance. 11 Kelly Monaco reacts to her score on 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 1. Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images 'I had never heard of ballroom dancing before,' Monaco confessed. 'I had no idea what I was getting myself into. But I was just like, 'F–k it. I'll try anything once.' That's how I've always rolled in life. If an opportunity comes, I'll try it.' The soap opera star was partnered with pro dancer Alec Mazo and the pair competed against Trista Sutter and Louis van Amstel, John O'Hurley and Charlotte Jorgensen, Joey McIntyre and Ashly DelGrosso, Evander Holyfield and Edyta Śliwińska, and Rachel Hunter and Jonathan Roberts. 'The first season was only six episodes. It was a test run, and I was like, 'I'm not going to tell anyone I'm doing it and hopefully I get voted off first and no one will ever see it,'' Monaco told the outlet. 'After the first episode, I was horrified by the comments from the judges, and I got the lowest score, I think, ever in the history of 'Dancing With the Stars.' So, I was like, 'OK, it's on. We're going in and we're doing this.' Then I took it seriously, and I was all in at that point.' 11 Kelly Monaco won 'DWTS.' Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images As the weeks went by, the soap star was sure she would be eliminated from the series. 'I didn't think I was a good dancer at all. I improved weekly,' Monaco reminisced. 'I was so proud every week that I made it a week further,' she recounted. Monaco quickly became a fan favorite, but along with sharpening her dancing skills, there was one fashion mishap. 11 Kelly Monaco on ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars': 10th Anniversary Special.' Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images During Monaco and Mazo's samba during week four, the actress's dress broke. 'Alec was very strict, and he prepared me for every obstacle,' Monaco shared. 'He would have whoever was around throw obstacles at us. So, he prepared me for that, but oh my God, it was so scary. I felt like someone had a laser beam from five miles away and shot my costume. It was a countdown to going live, 'Five, four, three, pop!' I was like, 'What am I supposed to do?'' The former ABC star did what she could in the moment. 11 ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars.' Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images 'I know I get at least five counts of a walk over to Alec, walking toward him for our dance,' explained Monaco. 'But I remember looking at the judges, looking at whoever like, 'Is there a stop button? Okay, there's nothing. I just have to go through it.' So, I'm like, 'OK, well, I'll just hold my dress up while I dance.'' She gushed, 'Alec supported me every step of the way. I don't think I felt more confident in any dance.' However, Monaco's wardrobe malfunction marked 'the turnaround' of her 'experience with dance and the show.' 11 Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy. Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images 'After that, the audience related to me because I was on soap operas for so long, I had only been known as this villain and was only called by my soap name in public,' she elaborated. 'This gave the audience a chance to see the real me in a circumstance where you can either fall flat or rise above.' Monaco's hard work paid off, as she took home the Mirrorball Trophy that year. 'I was driven to win,' the 'General Hospital' alum admitted to ESPN in 2011. 'I didn't realize how many hours I had put in because I had the end goal of capturing the title and I achieved that.' 11 Kelly Monaco and Alec Mazo. Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images Then, in 2012, Monaco went on to compete on 'Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars.' She placed third with her partner Val Chermovskiy. After both stints in the ballroom, the Hollywood vet continued playing Sam McCall on 'General Hospital' until her 21-year run came to an end on November 1. In September, Monaco addressed her exit in a since-deleted Instagram response. 11 Kelly Monaco competes on Season 1 of 'DWTS.' Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images She replied to a comment on Soap Hub's Instagram post at the time, that read, 'What do you got concrete in your head she wasn't fired she didn't take the pay cut so she had to leave.' Monaco answered: ''No primary role'.. do your homework. When Billy Miller was fired, Sam's storyline stopped. Stripping Sam of every characteristic she had. Something I worked for decades to build… Slowly dismantling her, into a character that I did not recognize, let alone the audience. Call it what you will… retaliation at it [sic] finest. I will give a proper statement. The truth will set you free.' Then, the reality star's mom, Carmina, took to her own Instagram to share a lengthy message about her daughter being let go from the long-running series. 11 Kelly Monaco and Nancy Lee Grahn on 'General Hospital.' ©ABC/Courtesy Everett Collection 'I want to take this moment to reach out to Kelly's incredible fans and express my deepest gratitude for the unwavering love, loyalty, and support you've shown her throughout her time on General Hospital,' she penned. 'On this final day, just four days shy of the anniversary of her first episode on October 1, 2003, Kelly will close the door of her dressing room for the last time.' Carmina noted that while it was a difficult transition for Monaco after two decades, the fan base helped make things a bit easier. 'This moment is a difficult one, but knowing that she has had such an incredible, devoted fan base has given her strength,' the former figure skater expressed. 'You've stood by her through every twist and turn, celebrating her achievements and providing comfort in the hard times. Your love and dedication have meant more than words can express, not only to Kelly but to all of us who care so deeply for her.' 11 Kelly Monaco, Jay Acovone, Steve Burton on 'General Hospital' in 2008. ©ABC/Courtesy Everett Collection In October, Monaco posted a photo of herself with her co-stars Kate Mansi, Nancy Lee Grahn and Kristen Vaganos while on set. Monaco was reportedly 'blindsided' by the network's decision to kill off her character. 11 John J.
