Woman Says Friend Texts Her Fiancé Behind Her Back, Then Asks Him to Hang Out

A woman and her fiancé are uncomfortable with their mutual friend's girlfriend messaging him privately
The girlfriend's texts weren't flirty at first, but recently they've grown increasingly suggestive
Though the fiancé is transparent with the woman, she can't shake the feeling of distrust towards the girlfriendA Reddit user is suspicious of another woman getting flirty with her fiancé, despite them all being friends.
The 29-year-old woman opened up about the uncomfortable situation between her 30-year-old fiancé and his childhood friend's girlfriend in a post on Reddit.
"I need to get this off my chest because it's been bothering me a lot and I don't know if I'm overreacting or trusting my gut," she begins.
She explained that the two couples are in a group chat together, but the 27-year-old girlfriend continuously and consistently messages her fiancé privately, while making no effort to build a connection with her.
In the past, the girlfriend's messages weren't "explicitly flirty" but rather random questions and comments that, in the poster's mind, would have been just as suited for the group chat.
"She's extremely friendly to me and I like hanging out all together. Yet, If we're all supposed to be friends, why is she building a connection only with him privately but not me?" she questions.
While the poster has been letting it slide, recently, the messages have taken a suggestive turn.
On the fiancé's birthday, the girlfriend stayed up late so she could be "the first one to wish him a happy birthday."
"Something about that just really upset me. It felt so intentional, like she wanted to insert herself in a way that made her feel close to him," the poster explains.
At a separate time, the girlfriend also texted the woman's fiancé, saying she wanted "to hang out with him with or without her boyfriend."
"That sentence keeps playing in my head," the woman writes. "Who says that to someone else's fiancé?"
The poster notes that her partner has been very transparent and always shows her the messages and asks how to respond.
While her fiancé is equally "uncomfortable" with the situation, he doesn't want to complicate the dynamic between the four of them – him, his fiancée, his friend and the girlfriend.
Still, now he's set a "clear boundary:" whenever the girlfriend texts him, he'll send his reply in the group chat.
But it's not about trusting her fiancé, the poster notes — it's about trusting the girlfriend.
"I can't stop feeling disrespected and honestly, [on] high alert. It's a mind game because nothing she's saying is overtly inappropriate, but I'm not getting a good gut feeling about her," she writes. "She's seemingly happy in her relationship so why is she going to my fiancé for random things?"

Those in the comments agreed, noting that they were willing to give the girlfriend the benefit of the doubt until she asked to hang out alone with him.
"I could see her sending him non-flirty texts about specific topics that are career related, but the part about wanting to hang out with just him and maybe her [boyfriend] — to the exclusion of you — is troubling," one wrote. "I'd be suspicious as well."
Another suggested the girlfriend is "playing a long, low-stakes game" — establishing a connection with the fiancé should either one of their relationships end.

Football is officially in full swing, as players began reporting for training camp in Cincinnati on July 22. And it's no surprise a particular Bengals player arrived in a colorful outfit (hint: He's on the cover of the latest Sports Illustrated). Joe Burrow, who is entering his sixth season with the team, sported a bright-colored tie-dye shirt and black athletic shorts, paired with black-and-white sneakers (that are likely Alo) as he reported to camp. He also had his signature bracelets and what appeared to be a Stanley cup. The Bengals shared the star quarterback's entrance on social media, using his quote as the caption. Burrow's stylist, Kyle Smith, told Sports Illustrated that the quarterback "loves color in a way that I don't." Comedians support CBS 'Late Show' host Colbert, Jon Stewart rips Paramount

By Dawn Chmielewski and Lisa Richwine LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -Late-night rivals and other celebrities rallied to support CBS "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert after the network canceled his show, and comedian Jon Stewart lashed out at Paramount Global for the decision to end the long-running TV program. On "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Monday, several comedians and talk-show hosts appeared in a sketch that also featured an animated Trump hugging the Paramount logo. The bit spoofed the viral moment in which a tech CEO was caught on camera embracing his company's chief people officer during a Coldplay concert. "The Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon and NBC colleague and "Late Night" host Seth Meyers were spotted sharing beers together in the audience. HBO's "Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver was seated with Stewart, both former colleagues of Colbert's on "The Daily Show." Colbert joked about his show's demise in his opening remarks, quipping that "cancel culture has gone too far." He suggested the show's venue, The Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan, might be converted to "self-storage" after the show ends. CBS executives said last week they would end "The Late Show" in May 2026 in what they called "purely a financial decision." U.S. lawmakers and others have called the timing suspicious, noting that Paramount is seeking government approval for an $8 billion merger. Colbert is a frequent critic of President Trump and had called that payment a bribe. Stewart addressed the cancellation on Monday's episode of "The Daily Show," which runs on Paramount-owned Comedy Central. "If you're trying to figure out why Stephen's show is ending, I don't think the answer can be found in some smoking gun email or phone call from Trump to CBS executives or in CBS QuickBooks spreadsheets on the financial health of late night," Stewart said. "I think the answer is in the fear and pre-compliance that is gripping all of America's institutions at this very moment, institutions that have chosen not to fight the vengeful and vindictive actions of our ... commander in chief." Paramount representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Trump, in a post on Truth Social last Friday, applauded the cancellation, writing, "I absolutely love that Colbert got fired." Colbert responded Monday night with what he called a "satirical witticism" that included a vulgarity. Sign in to access your portfolio

Chili's Is Selling Boots, Belts Made From Its Red Booths

Chili's new collab wants you to wear the furniture. Chili's Grill & Bar is partnering with Texas-footwear brand Tecovas to launch a limited-edition collection of "Booth Boots," which is exactly what it sounds like — cowboy boots made with the same material as its classic red booths. In a statement, Chili's said that this "first-of-its-kind collaboration" turns its "iconic" red booths, which have been around for 50 years, into "handcrafted boots made with time-honored techniques and heritage craftsmanship." The company is also selling a matching Booth Belt. "Our new friends at Tecovas have been the perfect partners in bringing this wild idea to life with their handcrafted boots now reimagined with our booth material." Still, it will cost you a lot more than the popular Triple Dipper. Booth Boots (both women's and men's styles) will retail for $345, and the Booth Belt, with its "brass buckle in a matte nickel finish," will sell for $75. The limited-edition collection of Booth Boots and a matching Booth Belt will be available on on July 29 at 10 a.m. CT. Chili's has 1,600 restaurants in 29 countries, according to Nation Restaurant News.
