Time of India8 hours ago
Apple is all set to launch the 2025 iPhone lineup later this year. The series may offer four smartphones – iPhone 17,
iPhone 17 Pro
, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the all-new iPhone 17 Slim. As the launch gets closer, rumours about the upcoming smartphones have also increased. The series will be equipped with the latest A19 Bionic chipset (A19 Pro on iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max). All smartphones will run on iOS 26 that was unveiled in June this year with the all-new Liquid Glass interface among other key features. Recently, a report suggested that with the iPhone 17 Pro this year, the Apple logo on the rear may be repositioned. Here's a look at all rumoured features of iPhone 17 Pro
iPhone 17 Pro design changes (expected)
Apple may be making several design and performance changes to its upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models, according to early leaks and reports. The Apple logo on the back of the iPhone 17 Pro may be placed lower than in previous models. Because of this change, the layout of the MagSafe magnets could also be adjusted.
The iPhone 17 Pro models are rumored to have an aluminum frame. This would be a shift from the titanium used in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro. Further, a larger, rectangular camera bump with rounded corners is also expected, though Apple is likely to keep the same triangular layout for the camera lenses.

Apple iPhone 17 Pro might also come in a new Sky Blue color, similar to the latest MacBook Air. The iPhone 17 Pro Max could be slightly thicker than before, which may allow for a larger battery.
iPhone 17 Pro hardware and camera upgrades (expected)
As mentioned above, the iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to run on Apple's new A19 Pro chip, built using TSMC's third-generation 3nm process. This should offer slight improvements in performance and battery efficiency. Apple is also said to be working on its own Wi-Fi 7 chip, which will replace the Broadcom chips in all four iPhone 17 models.
The front-facing camera is expected to get a major upgrade, going from 12MP to 24MP. On the back, the Telephoto lens could be upgraded to 48MP—up from 12MP on the iPhone 16 Pro.
New camera features might include dual video recording, allowing users to record from both the front and back cameras at the same time. 8K video recording is also rumored, especially since all rear cameras on the Pro models are expected to be 48MP.
The iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to come with 12GB of RAM. This is an upgrade from the 8GB found in all iPhone 16 models and could help improve multitasking and support Apple Intelligence features.

Foxconn second quarter revenue rises 15.82% on year

Taiwan's Foxconn , the world's largest contract electronics maker, reported record second-quarter revenue on strong demand for artificial intelligence products but cautioned about geopolitical and exchange rate headwinds. Revenue for Apple 's biggest iPhone assembler jumped 15.82% year-on-year to T$1.797 trillion, Foxconn said in a statement on Saturday, beating the T$1.7896 trillion LSEG SmartEstimate, which gives greater weight to forecasts from analysts who are more consistently accurate. Robust AI demand led to strong revenue growth for its cloud and networking products division, said Foxconn, whose customers include AI chip firm Nvidia. Smart consumer electronics, which includes iPhones, posted 'flattish' year-on-year revenue growth affected by exchange rates, it said. June revenue roses 10.09% on year to T$540.237 billion, a record high for that month. Foxconn said it anticipates growth in this quarter from the previous three months and from the same period last year but cautioned about potential risks to growth. "The impact of evolving global political and economic conditions and exchange rate changes will need continued close monitoring," it said without elaborating. U.S. President Donald Trump said he had signed letters to 12 countries outlining the various tariff levels they would face on goods they export to the United States, with the "take it or leave it" offers to be sent out on Monday. The Chinese city of Zhengzhou is home to the world's largest iPhone manufacturing facility, operated by Foxconn. The company, formally called Hon Hai Precision Industry, does not provide numerical forecasts. It will report full second quarter earnings on August 14. Foxconn's shares jumped 76% last year, far outperforming the 28.5% rise for the Taiwan market, but are down 12.5% so far this year, reflecting broader pressure on tech stocks rattled by Trump's tumultuous trade policy. The stock closed down 1.83% on Friday ahead of the revenue data release, compared with a 0.73% drop for the benchmark index.

INS Udaygiri delivered: Second stealth frigate under Project 17A; why is it important?

ANI photo NEW DELHI: The Indian Navy received Udaygiri, a new stealth frigate built under Project 17A on Tuesday, from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai. This is the second of seven ships being built under the project, with construction underway at MDL and GRSE in Kolkata. Project 17A is an advanced version of the Shivalik-class frigates already in service. These warships are built for "blue water" operations and can handle both traditional and modern threats across India's maritime zone. Udaygiri carries forward the legacy of the original INS Udaygiri, which served the nation for 31 years before being decommissioned in August 2007. The new ship comes with upgraded stealth features, modern weapons, and advanced sensors. It represents a significant improvement over the earlier P17 class. The ship has been designed by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau and built using an 'Integrated Construction' method — a process that reduces build time by pre-fitting components in smaller sections. Thanks to this method, Udaygiri was delivered within 37 months of its launch. Compared to the earlier version, the new P17A ships are 4.54% larger in hull size and have a sleeker, stealthier profile. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like El SUV ideal para vos y las rutinas de tu familia. An Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) runs onboard systems. The ship's weapon suite includes supersonic surface-to-surface missiles, medium-range surface-to-air missiles, a 76mm gun, and close-range rapid-fire weapons. The Defence Ministry said Udaygiri reflects the country's progress in self-reliant shipbuilding, with over 200 Indian MSMEs involved. Most of the warship's major components, weapons, and sensors are sourced from local manufacturers. The project has also created jobs — about 4,000 directly and over 10,000 through indirect and support roles. The remaining five ships of the P17A class are in different stages of construction and are expected to be delivered by the end of 2026.

Why is Microsoft pulling out of Pakistan after 25 years: Reports

(Image via Getty Images) Microsoft has made the decision to shut down operations in Pakistan. It would end the 25-year-old presence of the company in Pakistan. The move comes as a surprise to Pakistan's local IT sector, where Microsoft, the tech giant played a key role in digital transformation. While no official statement has been released yet, industry experts are pointing to economic challenges and the shifting business strategies as possible reasons for the exit. Let us deep dive into these reasons. Why is Microsoft leaving Pakistan? Microsoft's exit follows some growing difficulties within Pakistan's business environment. The company that entered its market in 2000 kept its focus on the primary sale of office products and Azure, but had no engineering teams locally. As per reports, with just five local employees affected, the decision seems to be a part of a broad restructuring— Microsoft recently cut down 9,000 global jobs. Jawwad Rehman, a former Microsoft Executive, even hinted at some operational challenges through his LinkedIn post. He emphasized the struggles faced by Pakistani businesses. The economic instability of the country, including currency devaluation and the declining foreign investment, further and quite likely influenced this move. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Nhà tiền chế 2025: Lựa chọn nhà ở giá cả phải chăng (Xem ngay) Nomad's Notebook Nhấp vào đây Undo Microsoft would now be serving the company's Pakistani clients via regional offices and resellers. How does Microsoft's exit impact the Pakistani tech sector? The departure of Microsoft adds to concerns over Pakistan's ability to retain multinational companies. Over 55 startups shut down or have pivoted since 2021. Tech funding, too, dropped by 88% between 2022 and 2024. There's poor internet infrastructure, frequent power outages, and even a worsening business climate, which further pushed 1000s of tech professionals to seek better opportunities abroad. Despite it all, some companies, including Google, are investing in Pakistan. They have reportedly pledged $10.5 million for education and local Chromebook production. Such a contrast here highlights differing corporate strategies, with some of the firsts considering it as potential, while others are retreating. As for Pakistan, retaining tech players will now be crucial to stabilizing the struggling digital economy. What is next for Pakistan's IT industry? The Pakistani government plans to offer IT certifications from Google and Microsoft to 500,000 youth, even when Microsoft has scaled back. The experts warn that without addressing some core issues here, like policy stability and those infrastructural gaps, more issues can follow. Even widening gaps, with India, where Microsoft does have strong operations, underscore the urgency for reforms. As of now, Pakistani businesses that are reliant on Microsoft products will not face any disruptions as services will continue via partners. But the exit of Microsoft serves as a wake-up call for the policymakers to revive investor confidence before any more damage is done.
