MAFS Australia star Jamie Marinos says Dave split was 'real kick in the teeth'

Married at First Sight Australia star Jamie Marinos opened up about her time on the E4 show, and the romance rumours with Eliot Donovan
Married at First Sight Australia star Jamie Marinos has divulged more about her time on the show, and where her and Dave are now. The former E4 bride opened up during a chat on Lorraine's ITV breakfast show on Tuesday, July 22.

She explained why she felt the breakdown of her and Dave's relationship after their on-screen marriage was a "kick in the teeth" at the time. However, she also explained she's not opposed to reconnecting with him if they had a chance at rekindling a friendship one day.

Jamie also lifted the lid on her alleged romance with co-star Eliot Donovan as she chatted to Christine Lampard. The pair sparked romance rumours following filming on the show, as they were snapped out and about together appearing to enjoy a lot of one-on-one time.

Revealing why she chose to go on the Australian reality show, Jamie said: "I have always loved MAFS - it's just crazy. It's the one reality television show that I feel Australia does right, which we don't have many of… MAFS was always crazy and so I just thought why not?"
She continued: "I mean it surely was better than whatever I was selecting myself. I was like I can't do it, so I am going to let three experts find me a husband and I honestly went in thinking I am going to have it all. I am going to walk out with my man, have my babies - it didn't plan out that way, but that's okay."

Opening up about the moment that her relationship with Dave Hand came to its end, Jamie said: "That was a real kick to the teeth. When they say that the carpet's ripped out from under you, that's exactly what it felt like because no one saw it coming. I remember looking around at production, cameramen, cast, and no one could make sense of it. Everyone was so shocked.
"He wasn't giving any indication even in his private camera moments, so it came out of nowhere. At that point, I felt that heartbreak and I knew public humiliation was about to come my way too and just overall rejection. I think it was a really tough time for me but then there is a lot of beauty in the lessons you learn and the strength that you acquire."

Confirming that she has not been in touch with Dave since the show, Jamie said: "No contact, but I think it's for the best. We both needed to protect our own peace and find our own happiness. I'm not closed off from reconnecting as friends in the future because we did share a really unique experience, but at the moment, no contact."
Addressing the relationship rumours with her co-star Eliot Donovan, Jamie told viewers: "Eliot and I, look we definitely fell into a flirtationship. I was very much off the market during airing, I didn't want anyone to know that Dave and I didn't work out because we were such a love story. And then, kind of as soon as I was like, 'I'm free and single', Eliot and I's friendship definitely developed. We kind of explored something a little bit more. It's a bit complicated being in two different states so what we did want to focus on is the friendship because it's a really beautiful friendship."

Coronation Street's Sam plays a trick on terrified Lily in revenge plot

Sam Blakeman was put in a terrifying situation (Picture: ITV) Young Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) was recently traumatised by a terrifying incident in Coronation Street. Murderer Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) had escaped from prison, and turned up at Weatherfield High looking for his daughter Joanie (Savanna Pennington). As the menacing figure appeared in the school, some of the pupils recognised him and fled in fear for their lives. Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) rushed into a nearby classroom and locked the door. Sam was right behind her, but as he made for the safety of the classroom, Lily refused to let him in. Sam was left in the corridor at the mercy of Mick. Luckily Mick was focused on the hunt for Joanie and Sam wasn't hurt, but the fear he experienced has stayed with him and is seriously affecting him. Having heard about Lily's actions, Nick (Ben Price), Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and Leanne (Jane Danson) have been left concerned about what happened and worried that Sam's ordeal will have affected him, especially given that his mother died at the hands of an escaped prisoner – an event that left him deeply traumatised. Mick went in search of Joanie, so he made his way to the school (Picture: ITV) The ordeal has left Sam struggling (Picture: ITV) In upcoming episodes Sam is unable to cope when the family assemble at the bistro for Audrey (Sue Nicholls)'s birthday tea. He hides in the office, shaking with fear. There's worse to come when David (Jack P Shepherd) and Shona (Julia Goulding) try to get Lily to apologise to Sam for her actions, but she tells him that she locked him out of the classroom on purpose. Sam can't believe she would be so callous and the pair argue furiously. Peace seems to have been restored later when the two cousins both attend Eco Club and Nick and Toyah are relieved that they're getting on again. But Sam has other ideas. Lily has made a poster and Sam isn't very impressed by it. After sneering at the poster, Sam tells Lily that there have been six burglaries in the area in recent days. He says that the burglars move the furniture around. Follow Metro Soaps on WhatsApp and get all the latest spoilers first! Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? When Lily gets home she's spooked to find the door ajar. When she goes inside, she sees that the furniture has been moved around. Fearing that they've been burgled, she screams in panic. Has Sam just got his revenge on Lily? And if so, will that be the end of their feud? It's not the end of Sam's ordeal. As he opens up to Toyah about how the incident in the school affected him, he tells her he's been having panic attacks and is living with constant anxiety, it seems he's still feeling deeply troubled by everything that's happened. Instead of July 14th's launch, more viewers - ironically - watched a rerun of Death In Paradise from series 11, which first aired in 2021. The BBC's repeat of Ralf Little's gentle crime drama drew in 1.8m during the same 9pm to 10pm time slot. And BBC2's stroll through the evolution of man, Human, attracted 1.6m. Shark! fared no better this week either, when double - 2m - tuned in to BBC1's Fake or Fortune? antiques show. Both weeks, the most watched show of the evening was Coronation Street, with 3.3m and 3m watching respectively. It comes after David Tennant's gameshow The Genius Game was branded an "expensive flop" after the £2.5m series drew an average audience of 661,000 by the end. In the five-part show, seven brave celebrities spent several weeks taking to dangerous waters in an effort to overcome their fears and also deliver an ecological message. The line-up also included comedians Ross Noble and Lucy Punch as well as McFly star Dougie Poynter and athlete Ade Adepitan. In the early episodes viewers have watched Helen battle with her fear of the sea after a childhood incident at an aqua park left her scared of even entering the water. Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters The actress, who plays Trixie in Call The Midwife, found even being lowered into the depths in a cage too much and begged to be released. Mum-of-two Helen, 41, said: 'I was terrified of putting my head underwater. 'I have a real deep-rooted fear. 'My kids know that I am scared of the water, and my seven-year-old is more confident in the water than I am, and I realised I've got to do something about that as it's not safe.' ITV say after seven days the first episode has now been watched by 2.8m viewers and the series has been popular with 25-54 year olds. 5 The series has seen Helen battle with her fear of the sea after a childhood incident left her scared of even entering the water Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 5 Helen found being lowered into the depths in a cage too much and begged to be released Credit: Shutterstock Editorial Unlock even more award-winning articles as The Sun launches brand new membership programme - Sun Club.

50 Years After Jaws Smeared Sharks, They're Having A PR Revival

This year has seen the supervillains of the sea undergo a long over-due rebrand. The sharks of the world have been on the phone with a top crisis PR firm and, 50 years after Jaws did the dirty on the whole species with two ominous musical notes, it's finally paying off. Not only are experts putting their heads above the parapet (or sea level, if you will) to say sharks are not as evil and carnivorous as we once thought, but ITV producers have chucked a group of celebrities into shark infested waters to prove it too. Andrew Martin, a University of Colorado Boulder professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, has been studying the reputation trajectory of sharks for many years. ' Jaws was a terrible thing for sharks and a terrible thing for biology,' he laments. 'I think it scared people away from the ocean, which was a bummer, and I know Peter Benchley, author of Jaws , has come around and realised his mistake.' 'Encounters between humans and great whites are usually with surfers,' Martin added, 'who look like seals from below. It's really rare for a shark to go after someone.' Perhaps he's right after all. There is a lot to be scared of in the sea, not least the dark, inconceivable depths of the water itself, but for decades sharks have been bearing the brunt of all our fears. They are – as horror films like Jaws and soft-core lifeguard porn like Baywatch attest in equal measure – public enemy number one. So afraid of sharks were some children (me) that they were sometimes too scared to even have a bath. If that's not the work of an epic, multi-generational smear campaign, I'm not sure what is. But is it really fair? Is it justified ? That's what Lenny Henry, Ross Noble, Lucy Punch, Dougie Poynter, Ade Adepitan, Rachel Riley and Helen George were sent to 'the shark capital of the world', aka the Bahamas, to find out in Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters . Naturally, each celebrity has a fear of sharks, albeit to varying extents, but what unites them is their desire to conquer that fear. And the results will astound you. As a review of the new ITV show in The Guardian reads: 'Ultimately, the sharks upstage the celebrities. [...] This is a nature documentary by stealth, and a plea for respect for these ancient fish.' It even features an ex-military Australian man called Paul who lost a leg AND a hand in a shark attack (slightly risky PR move from team shark), but has chosen to dedicate his life to their conservation. If Paul can give these (mostly) gentle giants a second chance, shouldn't we? It turns out sharks are not the villains of the sea at all, but perhaps their greatest divas – iconic, unapologetic and willingly misunderstood by all of us. As we finally open our eyes to the wonders of sharks, let us end with a quote from the guy who laid the groundwork for this impressive 180° back in 2004 – Lenny from Shark Tale : 'I'll never be the shark you want me to be.' We were all wrong Lenny, don't change. We're sorry for ever making you feel you had to. Nikki Peach is a writer at Grazia UK, working across entertainment, TV and news.
